Service tech just left after 4 hours. The unit is still not working but we are going into a cool down period through Sunday so that is one blessing.

Service tech show up at 3:30 pm yesterday and had the AC unit fixed by 4:30 pm.
Fixed is in italics because I do not want to get all cocky and have the unit break down this weekend.

Has the a/c been hanging in there? I hate a/c problems. Almost as much as I hate refrigerator problems. I’ve had so many lemon fridges the past 20 years. They seem…overly complicated. I know…the ice makers are a marvel of engineering…but we are breaking the ice trays back out.
So far so good on the AC @BeachAV8R. The tech had to clean the coils when he came out. They were so dirty that it was almost like having a blanket wrapped around them not letting the unit breathe. I mean the dirt had literally taken on almost the consistency of a heavy furniture moving blanket batting.
That others example is pretty close to the consistency the dirt had taken since the AC unit had last been cleaned. Roughly two years between cleanings.
The main problem though was the ac run starter capacitor unit and not the condenser thankfully. Once he replaced the starter unit and one other part that worked in conjunction with the starter unit the AC started working properly. I found a video where they had to make the same type of repair but my unit had two parts that needed to be replaced. Even though there were two parts my fix was also just swap cables from the old parts to the new parts.
The Kenmore stand up freezer is in the dicey stage at the moment though. We have had to defrost it completely twice in the last three months. I have found a defrost part that should fix the problem that I was going to be ordering later today and a video showing how to do it.
Over the years I have had to replace the burner unit and electronic panel on my Kenmore stove, the light switch in my Kenmore refrigerator and the heating element in my Maytag dryer a couple of times so this repair should be doable for me. It is just one of those things that is a nuisance to fix since you really just want things to work and NEVER break. Lol, I know that is not practical and since doing preventative maintenance always seem to take a back seat to something else that is more important at the moment the problem becomes important when something breaks.
Lol , long worded way of saying Yep the AC unit is still working just fine.

We have two outside A/C units…they were placed when the house was built in 1999. They are Trane XE 1100 units and they have been fantastic since we’ve lived in the house (10 years)…but at going on 21 years old, they are starting to show some signs. One of them needs a shot of refrigerant every few years…and if you demand too much from them on really hot days 95F+ they can freeze up. We run ours at 78 during the day and 75 at night…probably not as cold as some people like. Saves energy though…and hopefully has prolonged their lifetime.
If they break soon I won’t fret too much - I’m sure the efficiency of new units has gone way up, so replacing our will cost a lot up front, but we can probably gain some savings over time.
Glad yours is working and wasn’t a huge fix.
My house was built and 1989 and we replaced our furnace and AC unit in 2009 so you have a realistic
grasp of your current situation.
If you have not actually cleaned the units in quite some time that could be part of their efficiency problem. Go out and look at the coils through the louvered panels or screen. If it looks dirty cleaning them with just a hose and water might help.
The tech just used water to clean mine and you may not even have to remove the screens to clean yours depending on how open they are. Just be careful about wetting down any electrical connections.

I’ve had to replace the capacitor on A/C’s 4 times throughout my life. Seems they are usually the culprit. First thing I check when the A/C is blowing but its not getting cold. They get like buldged out when they go. Pretty cheap fix too.
Yippee!, Internet was dropping out off and on all day yesterday and now it seems it will be doing it again today. Easy to tell when it goes because the middle Broadband light on the BGW210-700 Gateway Router which is just to my left when I am on this computer turns to Red or begins to blink incessantly.
The bottom Phone light is always off since we are not using that service.
Edit:
The Internet dropped out while I was trying to post. It is a really nice feature that the forum keeps a saved copy of your post or edit for just such an occurrence.

It is just after 11:00 pm Pacific time and knock on wood everything is working at the moment. My only complaint is that it is still over 90 degrees outside. Hopefully the Air Conditioner continues to hold up…

Hi! To find out what I can do, say @discobot display help
.
And the Router went out again…
Was a refurbished unit but I was hoping for it to work for more than six months.
Wheels
I went through the online troubleshooting process last night and there was alledgedly a new Router on the way. Just checked my order and they say no such order exists.
Wheels
Yep, online troubleshooting service dropped the ball. Live tech support confirmed there was no orders of any kind associated to my account. Router will, alledgedly, be shipped out on Monday.

@Discobot fortune
Will the router ship on Monday?
for the love of god, dont touch anything else electrical … you’ve killed discobot now
Yes
