Might be worth it to have a look at this guide here, for how to play HL2 in VR using GarrysMod.
I haven’t tried it myself, but it looks like it adds in quite a lot of VR functionality, that I don’t think you’ll get with VorpX?

So, might be a stupid question - could the Half Life franchise be played in the order similar to how a newcomer might watch the Star Wars saga (straight through - starting with Episode I)? So I could maybe start with Alyx now and then go to Half Life 1 and 2?

HL, HL Opposing force & HL Blue Shift, then to Alyx, then to the HL2 series…

Yes! I think it could be Avery cool idea.
Except it’s more like - HL1(or even better the new BlackMesa!) , Opposing Forces, Alyx, HL2.
If you want the whole experience that is.
Blue shift was actually a bit pathetic, but it’s not many thinking like that.
I played Black Mesa early this year before it left early access but after the new Xen levels added.
So much improvement, it looks better than HL2 and its 2 episodes now. Still want them to finish the story.

I got Alyx and it is absolutely incredible. This really is the VR Killer App. Yesterday I loaded it up for the first time and already put in 7 hours. Lot’s of time to kill these days I started my second play session on 8 in the evening and when my feet started the hurt, I noticed it was midnight and I had been standing for 4 hours straight. Crazy!

Do you mean the death at the end of it?
It was over 12 years ago that Ep 2 came out, so I think at this point spoilers are long past!

Then I dare say if after 12 years you haven’t, it’s because you didn’t really have an interest in doing so. Therefore spoilers are irrelevant, right?
No. It is on a long list. Probably right under learning Dangerous Waters. So it might be a while.
