Health and Fitness Thread (2022)

I enjoy running and biking year round, my training for hockey. Like Harry, I get a certain amount of exercise maintaining the acreage. Though not so much in the management of encroaching weeds, rather, snow.

I have to say though,I was at my peak physical conditioning after a recent home project had me hauling clay-heavy soil in a wheel barrel. One of my team mates even commented on my play, asking what my work out regime was. lol

But at my age conditioning is such a …fleeting thing

For any of you guys worried about full joint replacement curtailing your activities, you are running out of excuses. I have had right hip and left knee replaced in the last 4 years and with robotically assisted surgery and the right doc, there are no restrictions. Like it never happened. :muscle:.

Guys, quick word of caution.
If you dislocate your right knee in the first 500mt of your Saturday’s run , don’t finish the entire 12km you planned.

It’s really not a good idea.
The rest of the week you’ll feel absolutely miserable.

Very true.

I felt some pain in my wrist when doing biceb curls with kettlebell (obviously not optimal form). Now the wrist has been sore for over a month, hurts even when lifting milk carton. Should heal with time says a medical doctor friend.

Advice was to listen your body: don’t do it if it hurts

Agreed! And f— kettlebells! I have done weight lifting with bar bells and dumbbells for years with no problems. Participated in ONE crossfit session with kettlebells and I hurt my wrist too. Took a bit over a week for it to go away and I barely pushed myself.

Oh, your wrist too! I guess it is the unevenly distributed mass of the kettlebell, which makes it bad for some movements. Of course it excells in some excercises.

I just love having couple at home making it easy to do quick excercise anytime. I own a set of 8, 12, 16 and 20kg kettlebells, and they are easy to store.
