Recommend for setting up a two stage trigger with a modifier as your T0/T1/TV switch, also has many more two/three position switches and adds some axes for the lighting controls etc, if you have free rotaries laying around.
There are so many cool details in this module…!
Viggen has convinced me of two things:
1.) The Viggen was completely bad ass, as I always suspected. I REALLY had great taste as a child, as it was one of my favorites growing up. Now I want… the rest.
I want all of the Viggens. When I rule the world, I will command Leatherneck to make a similarly capable JA-37 and SF-37. Also, they get more input on how DCS works so they can make an effective photo recon mission set.
Also, I will be paying them triple of what they make now. Because, as world despot, Flight sim devs get more pay.
2.) We really need an F-111.
It’d be like AJS-37, but more! More ordinance! More complexity! MORE.
I second the motion
Can I say both? As that’s another childhood favorite of mine
@klarsnow and I heading back from our second ship strike mission.
@Bogusheadbox takeing off for his second run!
Purchased the viggen yesterday. Wow, what a great ride!
Good job Leatherneck!
Purchased the Viggen, and for $63 Canadian peso’s too.
Things I like and don’t like so far:
-
A great fit for DCS, possibly one of the best ground attack modules. Surprised how much I like it and am channelling my Tornado / 80s vibes.
-
No pedals for my first play, so disappointing not to have a working rudder with a twist stick. Getting by on keys alone, but either part of a testing monoculture (Warthogs for all!) or just something missed last minute.
-
Love the not-too-digital feel of the thing, the computer is great. Great fun entering memory codes etc. Swedish cockpit isn’t too hard to learn.
-
AI doesn’t fire the Rb-04’s and all my early missions were ship attacks, so didn’t end well and confused me until I found the ‘existing bugs’ thread on ED.
-
I’ve just played in VR alone as can’t be bothered to set up Track IR again. Really really nice. Weapon selector and a few of the textures need a tweak, the Rb75 sight is odd (I go cross-eyed as the stereo is funny) etc but generally it’s wonderful to fly in VR.
-
1.5.6 is a bit sticky in terms of frames per second in VR compared to 2.0 or 1.5.5. I had a look at ED and it’s been reported, so hopefully sorted out soon. It is playable for sure though, just zooming in and quick left/rights can lag in a way 1.5.5 didn’t.
-
The Radar is a work of art, love it and really enjoying learning the modes. I don’t mind the simple stores options.
-
The training missions work in VR (with yellow boxes) and are great. Enjoyed reading through the manual on the flight home (real flight) and (saying again) it just feels like such a nice fit with DCS. The CCIP training gives out the wrong QFE, the pitch trim indicator doesn’t move and the mag variation seems stuck, which all caused some confusion, but otherwise they have been great.
-
Those DCS 1.5 Caucasus terrain mesh upgrades to 2.5 doing my best Tornado/Viggen low-flying stints can’t come soon enough. No more triangles soon please!
-
Aircraft System’s wise it is deep but not overwhelming, the HUD and system modes all sort of make sense to me. The QFE stuff is fine and logical, and the Rb15 BX stuff is fun to play around with (although needs a bit more work I think).
A great module, and a good open beta so far.
You mean the Rb15? The Rb15 uses those BX markpoints. They’ve been working great for me. It seems that it works best if you put down BX08 first, subsequent (earlier) BX markpoints will then follow the ‘rules’ in regards to weapon waypoint placement. If you start with say… BX06 it seems that the marker gets stuck on the side, as if a fault occured.
The Rb05 is an MCLOS weapon, the first of its kind in DCS, great fun to shoot.
Yep, updated - thanks.
Yes, I’ve had funny results in setting the descent and then course change markers, i.e. BX7 etc. I got it to work once in cockpit setting up the computer manually, but can’t seem to get it right from the mission editor.
Did you use the fix or punched in the coordinates manually?
With long lat the right way around too.
I am not sure if the VALB guidance address 81-88 (in the manual) are quite right as yet. Unplayable!
That’s one way to do it, but that’s pretty hardcore
What you can also do is…
master mode: ANF
Weapon mode: AKT
IN/OUT switch to: IN
Press the BX button, next…
Press the 8 Button on the datapanel, make sure your radar is on and in A1 mode.
Press T0 fix, then press T1 fix
You can now slew a crosshair around on the radar display You could use a spare stick to setup axis for this slewing, or you can bind ,./; style slewing.
Once satisfied with your target area selection, press the TV button.
You are now locked on! The waypoint indicator should now say [Bx][8] and the distance to waypoint indicator the distance to the target. If you are flying within release parametres (2000-50m?) the red ‘wrong altitude’ light should be off and you can fire the weapon. If you so desire, you can follow the same procedure to set up BX7 (turning point), BX6 (descend point, it will stay at release altitude from release, at wich it is slightly faster, probably more fuel economic but also more likely to be intercepted, it will go to sea-skimming mode at this markpoint) and BX9 (self-destruct point).
Yep, I’ve done it that way as well (and excellent summary btw).
I was more playing with sitting in the cockpit and planning out a realistic mission profile by putting the steps in up-front to let the missile do its own thing without doing the fixes in the air. The coords aren’t too bad to enter (I was geeking out on the CK37 a bit at the time), as the F10 map mouse pointer helps
EDIT: Plus just for context, it was these addresses I was playing around with, so the coords were the least of my worries
Even being able to set a missile target search area wind direction/strength is pretty epic. I’m sat there in VR programming a flight path using a keypad. Pretty cool stuff.
Something strange happened last night. I had to run the mod again to turn my 1.5 back into Open Beta. I wonder how that happened. At any rate, I do love this Mod. I will look at this a bit closer. I hope this don’t keep changing back. Am I missing a step?
