Heatblur: AJS-37 Viggen

Cobra posted a preliminary hotfix list in the Hoggit Reddit:

Thank you all so much for your kind words, impressions and sharing your first flights in the Viggen :).
We’re working really hard to make sure that there is a stable progression in the module and that the road out of Early Access is as smooth as possible. These fixes and changes will be available in the next 1.5.6 OB patch.

  • The preliminary changelog for the first update to 1.5.6 (whenever it may be) will be as follows:
  • Increased wet thrust IR signature
  • Corrected nosewheel steering sensitivity
  • Corrected canopy handle locking
  • Corrected game crash when altimetre set to 0
  • Fixed RB-15 Fast mode not engaging search mode until 25km into flight (now begins searching almost immediately)
  • Adjusted SPAK and nosewheel coordination
  • Radar no longer triggers RWR in passive mode
  • Rewrote RB-15 launch inhibit code
  • Removed some debug traces
  • Added airframe overstress damage (WIP)
  • Fixed CK running without electricity
  • Fixed flickering HUD on startup
  • Fixed AKAN imagery
  • Fixed some protruding cockpit objects beyond fuselage
  • Fixed flipped faces on ejection seat
  • Corrected Product Description
  • Added missing UI imagery
  • Updated default Guard frequency
  • Added Flight manual to /Docs/ folder in /Mods/AJS37
  • Changed TILS-landing phase 2 to phase 3 switch so the airplane must be pointed towards the airfield to lessen the likelihood of skipping phase 2.
  • Added temporary hackfix for cockpit shadows, fixes some of the most egregious until engine update
  • Corrected DemoMods description
  • Added missing 36x36 px icon
  • Fixed typo in tankbusting mission
  • Radar cross is now rendered in the shader, and properly corresponds to fix location
  • Added several new singleplayer missions courtesy of Wags, Graywo1f and Grimes! Thank you!
  • Fixed twist-stick rudder issue
  • Fixed QFE setting and player status in CCIP bombing tutorial.
  • Fixed errant shadow on texture under gear lever
  • Fixed issue with mapping data panel digit keys.
  • Fixed external tank jettison pushbutton.
  • Fixed canopy jettison issue
  • Fixed night lighting texture alignment on right side panels (ENKEL, Impulse, etc.)
  • Engine overspeed damage implemented
  • Added high pressure shut-off option for HOTAS throttles
  • Corrected fourth BK90 not launching.
  • Corrected distanceline not showing when approaching target from east (as shown in xxJohnxx’s video)

We’re working hard on a lot of other issues; and we’ve already fixed some, but we’ll let you know of that changelist in time for the move to stable!

I’ve been able to create an Rb15 mission in the Mission Editor – it flies to the descent point, jig at the jig point, etc. – but I haven’t been able to successfully enter/edit BX coordinates in the jet as the BX button doesn’t seem to function in my cockpit. I press it and then press a waypoint button (e.g., B8), and the associated nav waypoint is selected, not the BX (e.g., the display shows B8, not BX8, the coordinates are for the pre-planned nav point, not the Rb15 programmed point, etc.).

Are you guys seeing the “BX#” light up on the front panel, or just “B#”?

Nooooo! The button 8 on the datapanel  on the numpad, just the “8”. not the B8 button.

Yes it will really say [Bx][8], not [B][8]

I thought you used the data input keypad not the waypoint buttons to program the RB15?

Darn, beat me to it

But nobody knows that @EinsteinEP is trying to waypoint programme a nuke he took from the mig21. We all know how that went.

Not gonna lie, I’m waiting for someone to shoot themselves down with the RB-05 Golden Eye Style.

LOL… I shot myself down with an Rb4 yesterday. I popped up to release it and then pitched down to get back on the deck… Boom! Lesson learned. That would never have been a problem in the A10!

Yeah in the A-10 the fleet would have outrun you.

Cool!

One of my favorite things to do so far in the Viggen, that makes zero tactical sense, is flying down between two cruising Rb04’s like they are my robot wingmen. It goes great until the SA-8’s say hello.

LMAO at this. Studied all day yesterday to fly the Viggen. Got home and I had the house all to myself. Made me a Vodka Martini. I put on the Oculus and taxied out, no problem. Pause. Got a second Martini. Take offs in the Viggen are butt-cheek clenching events. Naviagation to the target… no problem. Now after a few sips of the second Martini I think… "Ok now, Rb-04 attack, Master Mde ANF, Radar On, Weapon Select to Rb-04… Rb-04, RBO4!!! Where is it???
There is no Rb-04 on the Weap Select… Better I go watch TV.

The lesson here? I have to choose between Martinis and Viggen… Cant do both. Please, Don’t drink and Fly.

Hey there Viggenmen,
Some of you may remember xxJohnxx from the MiG-21bis videos. He is all about the Viggen now and he makes some pretty cool videos on Youtube. He is certainly easy listening and a smart guy.
Worth a listen.

Don’t forget to like.

In case other people (who are certainly not @EinsteinEP), couldn’t picture what I’m describing.

Seriously- even if it was a mediocre movie, it still has Famke Jannsen and Izabella Scorupco.
You cannot go wrong with that…

Also Sean Bean dies. Of course.
I remember watching it in the cinema (I was barely old enough to watch it IIRC), and being furious because my friends and I couldn’t get the N64 game, because it was rated 18+ (or was even banned by the censors) because of “glorification of violence”. I was like “THAT AND SEXISM ARE THE WHOLE POINT OF JAMES BOND! How come the movie is 12+ and the game 18+ WTF??!!”

I love his videos. Love his delivery and cadence. Most recently watched some of his videos on the Mi-8…

That eject button is very conveniently placed. Interesting design choice by the makers of the Eurocopter.
