I asked what the designation options for the Viggen were on a spectrum of A-10C (representative of a modern Gen IV fighter) and the Mirage (an early-ish, Gen IV kinda fighter bomber).
It has both CCIPish (and and actual CCIP mode for bombs with a drag chute) and CCRP modes. The targeting computer is quite advanced. Just the bombs can be released in 8 or so different modes.

That’s a bold strategy cotton.
If it’s barreling towards you at Mach Snot in a straight line over water, It could be the Stay Puffed Marshmallow man for all the AIM-54 cares. Heck an AA-9 could do that job without much a bother.

I think I was 15 when I saw the ESCI 1/48th scale kit at my local hobby shop. Im now 52… It goes to show, never say Never. I cant wait to fly this… Forget the 50 bucks… Its the weekends immersed in the manual and weapon systems training that I worry about. I will disappear for a few months…

The Viggen has got to be the least sexy looking aircraft when landing. The aft landing gear placement and the canards always make me think of a nun squatting. Thrust reverser remains awesome.
