Heatblur F-14 and Forrestal Update

This one shouldn’t be a hoax.

Nice letter, some things looking good.

I was hoping the viggen would get some sorely needed love.

Fingers crossed for exciting times next year.

Merge plus popular module releases.

Fingers crossed for f-111, i read between the lines and definitely saw the 'vark in there somewhere

Intellectually I understand this to be the correct course of action and I’m absolutely digging the work they’re throwing down in those pictures.

Emotionally:

I’m ok with this. It’s easy to get eyes bigger than stomach, but it’s even harder to admit to that. I’m glad they’re doing it right though.

Am I the only one who caught the bit about the “CVBG” instead of just the Forrestal? Could we be getting some other sorely needed ship models? Say, Knoxes and Spruc-cans and Belknaps, maybe?

Will be a nice module, should fill the gap after the Hornet and prior to the F16/DCS 3.0.

I saw it. I took it to mean “we’re making a gaggle of Forrestals” because I don’t want to ratchet my expectations higher and break reality.

But if HB is reading, do that. Sprucans, Chuck Adams and CGNs for the win.

This immediately caught my eye as well. I would absolute love to see period correct escorts. Trying to keep my expectations in check though (but fingers crossed for Leahys).

As for the Tomcat missing 2017. I didn’t expect it before 2018 anyway, so no big surprise. All is good. Those pictures sure look incredible. I am also excited about the developments for the Viggen, which I think is an awesome aircraft.

Interesting update.
If they learned from their mistake, it is all good
I remain quite optimistic about the plane.

Ooh, talk dirty to me.

I think early next year is gonna be busy. I foresee so much grey iron and water in my near future. Oh yes, always in motion is it.

Waves gently lapping at grey hulls as big old navy birds slam down on the three wire! F yea!

Sigh… Things like this make me miss being out to sea…

Somebody needs to perfect an olfactory engine to capture the smells of salt air, kerosene, and grease.

Sounds to me like you just need to visit Daytona during Bike Week.

Are you kidding? That was some of my best nap time. You just had to know where to hide, and make sure you didn’t snore.

303B isn’t it? It looked bit weird, although it may have some fans (@Bogusheadbox). The final shape have to be the best looking aircraft ever.

For those that are not hip to the salty lingo of the early Tomcat development cycle. The Grumman 303 was the internal design that would become the F-14. It had a few iterations.

303-60 The January 1968 proposed aircraft: Podded Engines, High Variable-Sweep Wing
303A Nacelle Modification of 303-60: Podded Engines, High Variable-Sweep Wing
303B Design 303-60 updated for configuration comparison: Podded Engines, High Variable-Sweep Wing (see above photo)
303C Submerged Engines, High Variable-Sweep Wing
303D Submerged Engines, Low Variable-Sweep Wing
303E Basically, the winning F-14 design: Podded Engines, High Variable-Sweep Wing
303F Submerged Engines, High Fixed Wing
303G A fighter only version (AWG-10, 4 Sparrows) without Phoenix capability: Podded Engines, High Variable-Sweep Wing

I was there back in 2004… it was rather calm then… but you didn’t have to look too far
