Can’t wait till the gmt modes become available. Finding a column of trucks is already so much better in the map mode, but these exp modes… Fantastic implementation!
SEA mode for me. I want to fire harpoon at evil fast boats smuggling surströmming from Iran to corrupt the dishes of the free west.
Kinda Neat Wags mentioned The Old and Great Jane’s F-15E StrikeEagle in the Video…That’s exactly what I was thinking during his AG Map Radar Demo
Game-wise, it’s been useful, especially with the JF-17. The JF-17 just wins out on having more modes available now like GMT, which the Bug is still waiting to get. I also think we need to keep in mind that the APG-73 isn’t as powerful as something like an APG-70, which might have enough raw power to see out a bit further than certain ADA threats.
I don’t know how well GMT works in the Jeff, but if it’s an all-seeing eye in the sky kind of thing then they’re not doing it right.
I always thought that was because some people question whether every single future conflict will be conducted in CAVU conditions against adverseries kind enough to have no ASAT/GPS jamming capability…
Whilst conditions/ROE and frankly the importance of hitting a Toyota pick-up in the desert might well say “If you can’t see it on the TGP and drop a JDAM on it…come home” presumably if you’ve got to support some lightly armed Airborne troops trying desperately to slow down a few Motor Rifle Divisions in Lithuania when its snowing or a vastly outnumbered Marine Recon unit in trouble in Fujian province during a monsoon without GPS being available - the current operational philosophy of “no use of AG radar unless you’re in a Mudhen” might be revisited?
Attention Hornet Pilots - Big Change to INS:
Through my testing throughout the week so far it seems the air/ground-ranging (AGR) radar sub mode does affect CCRP (Auto) bombing accuracy.
With HUD only targeting, AGR, and a TDC depress I have had bombs all generally on target so long as the HUD marker was actually where I wanted it - the projection of the HUD can still lead to parallax errors so you have to keep that in mind.
Worst case weapons miss under HUD designation + AGR was roughly within known CEP values for MK82/3/4 bombs.
Testing was done on @WreckingCrew’s new Jambiya Dagger mission, and reminds me clearly how badly I want the flare count fixed for the Hornet.
AUTO mode leaves much more room for escape and evasive maneuvers, however HUD aiming is finicky so you must expect a short count down to release and align on cue as you aim. A wingmate to spot ground fire and SAMs would make things much better.
Anyone noticing the little"Howl" The Hornets Engines make when spooling up/down? I fly with headphones in VR and I had to take them off four times before I figured out what was going on…at first I thought my house was being robbed or a visit from a tardy Halloween Ghost!!!
That little moan they make is awesome. I was sitting in my office at out work last year…and at the time we had some portable buildings that were blocking our view of the ramp. So I’m just sitting there on the computer and suddenly that little moan goes through the whole building…LOL…I knew exactly what kind of plane was out on the ramp starting up…
Right about at 1:00 in this video…
That’s Awesome…Funny thing is I just noticed this sound effect after Wednesday’s update,Has it been around awhile?
Yes it has…
It’s really great hearing it sitting in a mostly dark cockpit, on a carrier deck, getting ready to launch for a strike.
So I’m looking through the Open Beta notes and found these under changes to DCS World…
Sound. Support mono USB headsets
Sound. Update for new sound feature Origin Sphere (wip) - P-51, Spitfire, Bf 109, Yak-52, Fw 190, and others
Sound. Added global origin-sphere around spatial sources
So I’m thinking my headphones must be mono because there’s no way I would have not noticed this Hornet Turbine noise before.
Repost?
I wondered that … Or if it’s going to be a stable branch update ?
