Hornet Mini-Updates

Don’t know him personally but, he seems like a good dude…him being a VR fan is good to hear, for me anyway.

Nice to ‘see’ Cyprus taking shape as well! :cyprus:

Those videos are great but am I the only want that wants to see a few seconds of F6 view and an end result explosion?!?

Haha same here. Perhaps the 'poon is being overhauled and the WiP is not quite fit for general consumption… ?

My general experience is everything is great until the weapon impacts the ship…and then it fails to produce any meaningful damage. :frowning:

I hope ship damage model revamps are on their “soon” roadmap?

From the point of an airborne observer, visually that’s about right. Unless you destroy a deck structure or set off fire in an exposed structure of the ship, you shouldn’t be able to see any effect for hours.

My point is more that a ship you attack will continue to use its radar and lob missiles at you until it sinks, whether it’s at 1% or 99% damage. It makes HARMs particularly useless…

Not if the radar has been hit.

I can’t remember that ever happening in DCS.

Jammer looked quite effective. Mayhaps the pods get loomed at as well? Would be cool if taking one on the viper made actual sense. Or if the one on the hog could force engagements WVR.

And oh my. Those skies. Gorgeous.

Holy crap, those clouds. And apparently Wags is done just teasing Cypress.

That looks very useful indeed!

Yeah, all the clouds to finally hide behind.

Oh, you meant the Hornet feature. Yeah, that too.

“Looks”? Maybe, if I could see it. I tried 3x and each time the video is blurry during the entire A2A portion and finally clears at around 80 secs when he switches to A2G. Start over, same thing.

Whoever is in charge of Youtube deserves minimum wage.

The AI wingman actually hitting ground targets? That is revolutionary.

Dear all,

For the next, big Open Beta update, we plan to include several new Hornet features that include:

  • Pre-Briefed (PB) mode for the HARM to include both HRM and A/C sub-modes.
  • Pullback (PBLK) mode for the HARM / HRM OVRD.
  • Improved HARM TOO handoff for two emitters at once.
  • Adjusted AGM-88C HARM flight and seeker dynamics.
  • ATFLIR targeting pod.
  • Complete remaining Litening targeting pod tasks.
  • TDC slew Wide Acquisition (WACQ) ACM mode.
  • RAID Single Target Track (STT) mode.
  • SPOT radar mode.
  • Saving PRF to SET options.
  • BRA indication with L&S.
  • Coupled (CPL) autopilot mode.
  • New flares with increased inventory loading option.
  • AGM-84K SLAM-ER.
  • New elevation tracking model to resolve JHMCS designation drift.
  • Updated flight model, FCS, and drag values.

Many of the above items are completed internally, and other are still in being worked on. Please understand that this list is our best projection, and it is very much subject to change based on testing results.

In parallel, we are also addressing many bugs and needed and adjustments. We are reading all your valuable feedback. Thank you!

Kind regards,

Wags

Does anyone know if the Hornet has or plans to add some additional carrier landing system stuff? Does the ‘ATC’ throttle work for the Carrier etc? Does the block simulated in DCS even have any ‘magic carpet’ stuff?

I enjoy landing on the carrier, but sort of fell out of the loop on what features were added to the systems for this bit.
