IIRC magic carpet is exclusive to the rhino, but it should get ATC.
Cool, thanks - but no ATC for landing so far? I guess it will be a mode that kicks in if you hit the ATC button and have the hook/gear/flaps etc down and it keeps a pitch with the throttle? I ‘saw’ move that stick quite a bit, so would be curious to see how well that would work.
First time I go to refuel to an S3 in the Hornet for ages, and the drogue chute from the refuelling line is missing, like there’s no graphic for it. You just get a sort of black nub to aim for. It works fine but it did make me think ‘Well this is smaller than I remember’ when approaching it. I guess a known bug or VR funny?
Odd. I’ve not poked the S3 in a while but the MPRS -135 and KC-130 worked yesterday. There’s a drogue-equipped DC-10 in my system (not sure if it was part of the Military Acft Mod addon) that gets a little “shy” when I try to poke it – the basket retracts the moment I insert. But, yeah, no idea about the S3 issue.
Could be a VR shaders bug, as I’d expect more people would say about it - and couldn’t find anything on the ED forums with a quick search. It doesn’t really matter, in that the probe still gets ‘grabbed’ as if the basket was there, it just looks kinda funny.
I’m using a shader mod. Give me a few minutes and I’ll check (need a mental break from the lua stuff anyway)…
Magic Carpet is E/F/G only.
Don’t believe it’s input yet, but with gear and flaps up, the ATC button functions as a speed hold.
With gear and flaps down, it seeks on-speed AOA. You then use the stick to control the descent and, in theory, the jet handles the throttle to maintain a yellow donut on the AOA indexer.

The water isn’t cold, not sure why I’ve just got a ‘nub’
Yeah, on the S3 it’s just as @fearlessfrog illustrates above ^^^. Missed it the on the first stab (sight picture off - yeah, that’s it). Took gas from it though. There was a -135 MPRS nearby that appeared normal, basket and all so perhaps just a newly-introduced bug for the S3?
ATFLIR…
Plus localized rain and nice cloud layers separation. He sneak’s them in there…
Yup, looks snazzy don’t it?
Frankly, I didn’t notice anything he was saying about the weapons let alone the ATFLIR. All I could do was stare open-mouthed at the clouds.
Localized rain is a pretty cool feature that has some fun implications if it affects sensors…
MiG-21: Njet, tovarish!
We all look for the clouds…
Look at that! IR imagery rework! Sweet!!
I don’t want to be the party pooper, but it looks like pretty much the same IR tech that we’ve had all these years. At 7:14 Wags also said the superior FLIR system is still WIP. Anyway, ATFLIR is a good update! Happy to see this jet going forward.
