How is your World Cup (2018) team doing?

I like to think there is a soccer school somewhere, with people sneaking a peek at some aircraft systems

That’s like a Far Side comic…

So far, both France and Belgium seem pretty handy at the ol kicky ball stuff. Might be the best two teams left in it to my untrained eye.

because they are

Yeah, good technique on both sides.

Congrats to France, although not much in it.
Part of me was kinda hoping their second half defense of a 1 goal lead would backfire but the luck held.

Probably, but Croatia worries me against the St. George’s Cross club. I certainly hope that they are being taken seriously.

Croatia - England would not surprise me going to extra time, but I think they’ll avoid penalties. If they do go to pens, I think that’s a toss up (unless the Croatian keeper is still hurt). Both teams have excellent ball strikers.

Either way, this world cup is France’s to lose, and has been almost from the start.

It’s a pretty happy state of affairs really.

France are a really strong good footballing team, so it’s nice they are getting better as the tournament goes on.

Croatia with Modric purring are really nice to watch, and it would be fantastic for them to win their first cup. I’m a useless ex-nationalist, so would be happy for them.

England seems younger and more relaxed than of old, which is nice to see - it was almost painful to watch the national angst at the big tournaments of the past, but I don’t get that impression now (although I’m embarrassed to admit I hadn’t really heard of most of the players outside of Stirling and Kane…).

With these knock-out one-game things (the Stanley Cup has spoilt me over the years) then anything can happen though. Teams look good on paper, but they play on grass, so anything can happen on the day. (:robot: forum cliche overload - crash detected)

definitely true though. France is overwhelmingly better than either side they will face, but it is a high-stakes one performance result. You don’t show up you aren’t going to win, period.

Watching it on the big screen at work. I’ve told anyone interested to bring their laptops to the conference room. A nail biter…

Literally half the company is watching the big TV screens, managers included… that England-Croatia match sure is a nailbiter. 1-1 as we speak.

GREAT match, Croatia!!!

Oh well, the Scots/Irish/Welsh/insert more here etc will be happy with the result anyway…

Croatia looked the better team, so good luck to them in the final.

I root for France for the finals, but I have to admit that Croatia played great football against England. Their win was well-deserved.
