Great play in the England v. Sweden match - I swear that was the cleanest looking game I’ve seen in this tournament. I don’t think I saw a single embellishment or dive in that match (so far…I’m still behind at 70 minutes)…

England are doing just fine it would seem
I was a bit concerned when they fielded a team where I’d only heard of about 4 of the players - I had them pinned for getting stuffed in the the group stages. But then they end up in the semi finals for the first time in 28 years!

It’s not hard when half your games are against terrible teams! They’ve had the easiest path to the semis of any team. That’s not to say they didn’t earn their wins but they struggled to beat Tunisia and were hugely lucky to get by Colombia in my opinion.
I figured they’d beat Sweden 1-0 so good on them for the 2 goals.
Who knows… They may just do it. 1 more lucky break and anything can happen (sorry to England fans… I just don’t rate the team at all).
Glad Croatia scored there - this was looking like a replay of the exact plot from Rocky IV, what with the Russian’s simply amazing athletic stamina and endurance on display. 
England would probably prefer getting Russia at this point though. I wouldn’t drink the hotel tea.

As for the semi’s, an all European affair. Wouldn’t have predicted that. A strange tournament so far.
I think ol Modric might carve up the England back four like the magician he is - an amazing player. Will depend if England gets anything out of lots of set pieces and corners.

You mean teams that were terrible in the past by reputation - you still need a degree of luck against so called terrible teams as certain countries with high expectations have found out.
This year very little expectation from an England team with no big names like there used to be and very little expectation as there might have been years back - and getting to just the semis is a win for the players and manager.
Croatia for the semis but still 50/50 and not much different from getting Russia at the end of the day.
Well ok fine, but stick them in the other side of the bracket and we wouldn’t be talking about them anymore. That’s my issue. That side of the bracket is silly weak in comparison.
I figured that the missiles would fly out of Russia the minute that first penalty shot was blocked.
On the down side - Russia packed the stands of the stadiums with models…so the crowd camera shots aren’t going to be as exciting. It does seem the camera guys have a good eye for spotting all the fans from all countries that are easy on the eyes though…
They get training for that in all sports.
