You could rent these at the video rental back in the days. I have awesome memories of it…
And it looks like it will get a mini revival!!

And it looks like it will get a mini revival!!
Good looking system, but don’t remember them being widely available in the uk, I went the Atari 2600 then zx spectrum then Amiga route
But there seems to be a big retro revival at the moment, from the humble speccy to the C64 so don’t see why the vectrex couldn’t make a come back
The Vectrex had a short life as the company went bankrupt in less that 2 years. I don’t know of anyone who owned one. We could only rent them.
But they were so cool! The vector based graphics meant no pixels and infinite FPS. Simple but fluid graphics and the color came from plastic sheet overlays.
The mini copy has a pixel based screen but todays hardware can simulate the vector graphics at a gazilion FPS in really high resolution, so I’m guessing the experience will be similar.
I begged and begged. No dice with dad.
Eric, when that Kickstarter goes live, I’m going in for two units! One for us both… ![]()
Thanks Dad!

Let’s cross our fingers that they will start production!
But as they showed working production units at gamescom, I guess the kickstarter campaign is just PR.
I loved my Vectrex. Loved.
Then I stupidly sold it, and all my games, in the 90s, for about $200.
I still regret it to this day.
$200 was a significant sum back in the 90’s though, and you were 30(ish) years younger with different priorities.
I sold my Yamaha Alto Sax back then to help fund a new PC which, looking back on it, wasn’t exactly smart.
I always wanted one of these for my retro collection just because they are so bizarre and cool. I legitimately sat up and forward when I saw the mini previewed at Gamescom.
I mean, I was broke at the time, so I totally needed it, but gah, I still regret it.
Kickstarter went live today and I pledged for the double deal.
Delivery next september…

Honestly, I’m surprised the price is where it’s at given how absolutely bizarre this machine is by today’s standards.
Surprised, high? Or surprised, low? I hope the kickstarter works. If for no other reason than to see Troll’s collection grow with ever cooler stuff.
