The thing about debugging software and hardware is the sense of satisfaction in the early hours of the morning when u finally make the break through and can eventually go to bed. That’s normally how it happens for me anyway

The headset goes to WMR after I turn on Steam VR. Steam VR will not stay running. Starting the game does some of the same. Game starts then stops and headset goes to WMR home.
What kind of VR headset did you have previously?
I had the O+. I am so frustrated now
The WMR for SteamVR app is critical. Once you install it into your Steam library, you need to opt into the beta version.

Is Steam VR and WMR for SteamVR needed if I dont use Steam for DCS?
To use VR with DCS you need SteamVR if your headset is NOT an Oculus model.

I had this out of the blue a couple of weeks ago. I uninstalled WMR for Steam, which I believe uninstalled SteamVR. Then reinstalled and the gremlins went away. BTW, I have the SteamVR Home in Settings disabled. YMMV.
@Scoop, yes you must install WMR for Steam, which I believe in turn will install Steam VR to run DCS. I don’t launch DCS from Steam, although there is a way to add a non Steam game to your Steam Library. I would say that the guide @whareagle linked above is pretty good as far as settings go, except for the G2 resolution set at 100% (where it should be) will show a much higher resolution the the native per eye res. More of a syntax difference in how G1 and the G2 report resolution.
Edit: Tried this, but basically it just jumps you into SteamVR Home without going to the WMR Cliff House. WMR is still running in the background, but perhaps not the Cliff House. The caveat is that if you don’t use your VR controllers often, it’s difficult to navigate SteamVR Home, AKA, SkyLoft. So I went back to disabling SteamVR Home.

Thank You all for the advice and patience. I went to bed before I got too mad. Today is after all, another day. I think these companies are shooting themselves in the foot. There was no instructions in the box. The cable was a pain in the butt to get into the headset. I thought I was going to break it. Its good now. So I get that its not plug and play but how much software does it take? Will I have enough resources left to actually play a game? Ok, I’m done whining.
I think i need WMR for Steam VR as @Toxin1 pointed out. So thanks @Toxin1. I have WMR and Steam VR, I guess that is not the same and this will keep me from running DCS. So WMR for Steam is a Steam app? @chipwich made a distinction between WMR for Steam and Steam VR. So now I know its too different programs. So that is where I went wrong. THANKS.
Yesterday it was all the same. I get WMR running, then turn on Steam and Steam VR and I would try to start DCS and then Steam VR quits and I end up back in WMR. Sometimes Steam VR quits before I even get to DCS.
One thing that scares me too is that my stupid PC will not update Win10. I spent another hour yesterday trying to upgrade from 1903 and still met no joy. I have lost my Win10 copy and ordered one yesterday.
Once you get it going Maico, you won’t put a lot of thought into it. Kind of like loading TrackIR or VoiceAttack before loading DCS.
Thanks @chipwich, I got a feeling i will be up late flying tonight. Looking through the lenses I felt this would be a whole different experience from the O+. Ok, I am excited again. Only 11 hours left on my shift

So, I have a question, if I do a restore, will I have to provide my Win10 installation USB thingie? The reason I ask is cause I cant find it in the house.
Maybe this is redundant, but have you tried the update assistant?
When you are desperate, nothing is redundant LOL. I did try the assistant. I did it at least five times now. It takes a long time and looks good… then it gives me a message that the update has failed… Last night was the last time I tried. I appreciate it brother.
So I have a working reverb2. Now how do I make DCS run with it? I am stuck in the cliff house
