Hands on part 2
I am looking to replace my RIFT sometime in the not too distant future will this be the HMD to have do you think. Probably have to replace the 1080GTX if it is
I have the Rift S and I’m seriously considering getting the Reverb G2. I have a 1080TI, but I think I’ll get a 2080 or newer come x-mas.
It wasn’t me, honest. I’m hiding my wallet right now, trying to remain strong…
Oh… Reeeeally…!?
Exhibit A:
I can’t let you make @BeachAV8R take the fall for this one…
Me too. Until they allow euro pre-orders. Then I’ll probably fold like a house of cards…
At least I am not in the firing line this time .
You got me!
Has oculus hinted a rift s/2/+? Would like to see how they plan to move forward outside of quest/link.
Not that I know…
Only reason I ask is I think the rift S is very close to being the perfect mid-range VR setup. Really hard to beat at $400 and only two cords to plug in. I’d like to see if they plan on adding things like the IPD setting, better speakers, etc.
Also curious how big a difference 1 screen vs 2 screens is for clarity and such. Rift S is the only headset I’ve ever tried.
I hear ya. I’m pretty much looking for the same info…
Not likely . All development efforts seem to be on the Quest , and software uninteresting to simmers (vr social , virtual desktop etc) . Oculus can’t even be bothered to oem a better audio solution for the S .
A pity really , as I have owned the CV1 , and now the S , but I’ll be jumping all over the G2 soon . The development commitment contrast could hardly be greater .
Yeah, I agree. They had such momentum and really led the way into the new VR era. No wonder the founders are out.
The Rift S still is a good headset, but it is also a bunch of lost opportunities.
If they do not want to have Pimax-like unfocused product line up, they have to chose their market and type of customers.
Desktop simming it is not, though.
Some good info in that video.
Shipping in the Fall (world wide preorder in late June-July). Perceived Mura has been fixed, but may have been traded for god-rays. I’m curious about this. Apparently their is an issue with Index and these rays, and the G2 uses similar lens technology. The product manager said they greatly reduced them so it might not be a big deal. I have never used a Index or a G1 so I’m not sure how much an issue god-rays or mura is.
It’s pretty bad while flying or driving into the sun or other intense light. Otherwise, it’s not a bother IMO.
Im wondering if the Rift S suffers from similar issues and I just don’t realize it. G2 is shaping up to be a great headset.
