I just ordered one. My Rift S has been a great headset, but I’ve been eyeing the HP ever since the G1 came out. Could use the extra clarity, and they’re on (mild) sale on HP’s website. Can’t wait to see how it is!

I have a very mild prescription, so mild that I don’t need my glasses for driving. They are mostly for screen comfort and preventing BdL, LdB syndrome(1). In the G2, clarity is so high, I found getting lenses made to even my very mild prescription was very much worth it. Yeah it’s good.
(1) BdL, LdB or Belle de loin, loin de belle. Pretty from afar, but far from pretty

Similar but slightly different. Beer goggles will make the 40yo alcoholic disaster zone of need and decay into a hawt classy person who’d make a fine partner. Is more a thing of altered perception I’d say.
BdL, LdB is very much optics. From a distance you just can’t see the wrinkles, the sunken eyes, the godawful tacky earrings. All you see is swaying hips and long black hair. So you go “rrrawrrr” and ten seconds later the rest of the crew in the vehicle can commence endless mockery of your terrible, terrible taste.
Anyway, that’s what a -1.5 prescription does for ya

Alrighty, I did it. I use the snot out of VR so the fun, amortized over at least 3 years == I’m so excited!!! And I have a roll of duck tape, zip ties and a face pad ready to go. Still won’t be as ugly as the Odyssey plus.
Who knows when it’ll ship.

Well I had a G2 actually had 2 and they both broke. not sure I can reccomend these headsets but for my own personal use I would not buy another unless they did something with those awful cables…
I currently own a Rift S and going on my 2ND of these as well so I am batting about a .100 lol. I would like these componies to have more strict QC or Something but lowest bid wins should be frowned on…
Been hit and miss for me since my Odyssey Plus which was flawless…
I know I kinda went backwards with a Rift S but the index is out of my league money wise… This entire industry is getting out of hand as in affording it let alone getting it as per the GPU Incidents we have nowadays . 
I sold my Rift S and went Quest 2 in the interim because the G2’s price just seemed too far out of my ballpark and all the complaints I’ve read here. I like the Quest 2 a lot so far despite the Facebook thing for which I created a real account and locked down as many privacy settings I could find. I’m just letting that account sleep but I was blown away as to how much Facebook already knew about me when I first logged in LOL! As per what @fearlessfrog said, they already had a shadow account for me even though I’ve never had a Facebook account … pretty nuts.
Ugh. Hope I have better luck. Sorry to hear that as I know it’s a PITA.
Oddly, my Odyssey Plus still functions as it did on day one, three years ago - it’s also just about as uncomfortable as on day one also.
This is with a lot of use. I’m always careful with the cable. The G2 cable will get some security the moment I open the box…

G2 Arrived today. Won’t bore you with a gushing review.
As compared to my 3yo Odyssey Plus (O+), in DCS, my usual settings and conditions; let SteamVR set the rez to ‘auto’, didn’t touch WMR settings.
Pluses
- Much more comfortable (not hard to improve on the O+)
- Sweet spot better than I expected, though I needed to snug in on pretty good - seemingly to get it a tad closer to my eyes.
- Performance: maybe slightly slower? Maybe. No large, negative, delta here though.
- Clarity: Kinda like the day I walked out of the Lasik office - I could see the antenna’s on top of the mountains 10 miles away, again (been many years since that was possible). World feels ‘bigger’ (again same settings). Can read my gauges now without zoom. I CAN SEE THE BALL on approach behind the boat. Nice!
- FOV: Eh, about same as the O+, and maybe even a touch smaller. Think this has to do with the gasket; your eyes are kinda far away (see above). In practice I don’t, right now, notice it anymore than with the O+; when I’m doing nothing I notice it.
- The Box: Best tasting box I’ve ever had. Note though that I had a colonoscopy yesterday and was STARVING! So, there’s that.
Minuses
- Installation: The plug - I swear it was all the way in! But it wasn’t. Had to go online to check. There’s a spot where it ‘catches’ and you have to go beyond that. Google it if you ever need help here.
- Cable bracket (on back of HMD). Useless. Waste of plastic. I double zip-tied the cable to the back. Should be fine.
[EDIT] Forgot sound: Was fine. The ‘drop down’ speakers on my O+ didn’t drop down far enough (I have a large head it seems) so I’ve always used quality Sony headphones. On the G2 they drop down just enough and do the job, but I’m not an audiophile.
[EDIT 2] Colors. Need to try a night scene as in the O+ it was ugly. However, the colors so far seem as good as the O+ (OLED screen); Nothing stands out as being washed out or over-saturated, etc.

Well, the most important part of all that is how tasty the box is. Good to know they aren’t going stale out there.
You may want to invest in this cable wrap…it really does make the grippy cable less sticky…
And yeah…whoever came up with that plastic cable bracket…

You still might need to reduce the in-game render value down from 100, graphics card dependent of course.

I too just received the G2 today. I’ve had an Odyssey+ briefly (wasn’t comfortable for me) that I sold quickly and moved to a Rift S which I’ve been generally happy with for two years.
Out of the box, the G2 seems lighter, maybe more comfortable, or at least as comfortable, and-
HOLY CRAP THE CLARITY!!! NO ONE TOLD ME IT COULD GET THIS GOOD!! 
It blows my Rift S out of the water. Incredible! Default resolution in Steam was 156%, and I can read EVERYTHING. AMPCD? Clear as day. WOW!
I’m completely shocked by how good the displays are. FOV is on par with the Rift it seems, and the sweet spot is not as noticeable as I thought it would be, it’s very nice. If you’re on the fence, order one.
Set up was easy enough, no issues with the cable here.
Now I’m tuning my settings to get it to run as smoothly as my Rift. I’ve turned off MSAA (used to run 4x) because there’s no shimmering without it now. Stepped Steam SS back down to 100%, any other suggestions?
