I just did a thing…

It did- I installed it after I took that picture. I’ll get another pic with it a bit later (getting kids started on bath cycle soon).

Thank you!

I’m not super happy with the power cable routing for the new card, but this is what the back of the case and power supply look like right now vs. the front:

Not any extra space unless I redo all the routings, and that can wait for a new SSD.

Looks great Ted! How are you finding it performance wise?

There really isn’t an elegant solution to the provided cable adapter:

To all the techies here at present I have 32gb in four 8gb sticks all the same speed as the two new 32gb sticks … if I put the two 32gb sticks in the primary slots and two of the 8gb sticks in the remaining two slots would this amount to 80gb of system ram

Yes but it might not run well at the advertised XMP/EXPO speeds. Worth a shot though, I’d say.

Make sure you double check the channels, that both channels have the same amount of RAM. Wouldn’t want to mismatch 64GB vs 16GB between the channels.

If your 2x32GB is plugged in as recommended for a single dual-channel set of RAM, you should be able to just add the 2x8GB in the remaining slots and be balanced

tried it … and it crapped out, shame, but still 64gb

Yeah you’re much better off with 64GB @ 3200 MHz than with 80GB @ 2466 MHz

Nice! Let me know what you think… I’ve just about talked myself into that to upgrade from my 3070 Ti FE

Honestly, I’ve only had like half an hour to actually tinker with settings so far since I installed, because small children. I’ll get back to you with better answers in a couple of days.

Understand completely. Was thinking about planning for Black Friday… but “I just did a thing” too.

Now to find some time to go through everything and see if I can get VR on the Reverb G2 satisfactory enough for me to stick with it or bail on it for now.

very nice combination

Rolled the RAM and GPU down into the “backup” rig (aka backseat)

So,
Front Seat = R7-5800X, 64GB, 4070 Ti Super
Back Seat = R5-5600, 32GB, 3070 Ti FE

Not as good as 1 2 3 4 5, though.

There must be some sorta contagion here…I just did a thing to!

4090 arriving Friday.

I rationalized it by…oh, does it really matter why?

Awesome! :sunglasses:

The rationalization is: I want the best GPU money can buy right now. Nothing more needs to be said.

Us poors who buy the third- and fourth-best GPUs to replace our “well it still works” GPU are the ones who need to justify things

It’s here! First thing I’ve every ordered from Amazon that came early. Ever. And I’m a ‘plank-owner’ with them (back when they started and only sold books).

Too bad I have to wait til tomorrow. :slightly_frowning_face:

I’m hip. It’s the first time I’ve ever purchased a bleeding edge item; waiting to upgrade my last GPU - when the newest of the new came out - did not work as it used to: Gen Last got more expensive when Gen New arrived! Crazy, and I don’t see it changing anytime soon. AI seems more important to GPU makers.

I saved up for 3 years.

That was a bit of my thinking too… but having paid WAY too much for the last card (3070 Ti FE) when I should have waited was not helping me out. I came to the conclusion that the performance I’m looking for comes with a cost and I needed to just accept that.

Now to go in and work on some VR graphic settings and see where I’m at.
