 I know… but there’s only one love in my heart. Beside my wife.
And Kate Upton.
And that girl that danced for me in Berlin.
And…

Wait… What?

Anyway- The A-6 Intruder.

Anyone noticed that AI is broken in current version? No matter if I fly in scripted campaign or in career, whenever there is a target to bomb, friendly AI (from your flight or escorted bombers) will just pass it without dropping a bomb. I didn’t tested if this happens 100% of the time, but already had 2 instances with my flight doing that (Sea Dragons campaign - I was #4 in flight) and 1 instance during Career (BoB, escorting B-25s which just passed their target with opened bomb bay doors, never dropping a single bomb).

Am I the only one with this issue?

No
Flew a custom mission two times already and according to the mission builder it worked fine during testing on his machine but the minute it was played online the B-25 bombers just flew past the target without dropping their bombs. I am not surprised to hear there are glitches in offline mode too though.

An update that breaks something that worked before?

Sounds like it must be software.

I am currently in a Ju87 Career and my guys are dropping. (Well, the few who survive long enough are). They seem to fly around for several minutes before committing. Whereas I am 1PHA, so I don’t stick around to watch.

Has anyone experienced adverse issues with SteamVR 1.8.21 (released today)? I’ve found IL2 to be noticeable slower. Also, there is now a seizure-inducing strobe effect when the game pauses for loading between the launch map and cockpit.

@smokinhole, remind me. What VR goggles do you have?

I have had the epilepsy inducing loading screen, for the last two il2 builds, have to look away on loading. But no noticeable slowdowns or frame rate issues.

Same here. I am on HP Reverb.

I had lots of shaking in the menu and while loading, in my Rift S. When I switched to openOVR all those shakes went away and FPS increased substantially. I think it only works with Oculus, but I’m not sure…

Just insatlled that openOVR, I think its now called OpenComposite, works a treat… no more mind melting flashing on maps loading, and possibly a few more frames…cheers for that info

Thanks @Troll. I have the RiftS as well. I’ve never had this issue before yesterday. In addition to the strobe there is a new window displayed that is obviously Steam generated and that shows the title of the app (IL2).

I’ve noticed flashing menus and a reduction in FPS in DCS recently with the Reverb. Since the SteamVR status gizmo is no longer displaying, I’m guessing that an update to it is causing this.

huh. I tried those .dll files, and they just keep the game from running.

When I put back the original .dll the game runs, but the steamVR thingamibob pops up as well when running the game. That is while the OpenComposite Runtime Switcher is open and has status “Opencomposite”…

I’ve gotten the performance back by disabling the SteamVR/Video/“Enable custom resolution”. Prior to yesterday, that was set at 158%. Steam wants it set at 68% based on my CPU. This renders each eye at 2044x2188. It’s not quite as clear as it was prior to STEAMVR 1.8.21 but at least it is playable. The strobe and the Steam windows titling are still there. Change is a fact of life I guess. It’s not like we can stop them.
