He really did. I believe he was behind the decision to remove these ridiculous “unlocks” for plane modifications, for which I am very, very grateful. I believe he truly is a flight simmer at heart.
No matter what Jason said in that YouTube video I will always believe that his leaving was not a decision made by him but was a corporate decision. Most likely due to the projects not meeting specific sales goals.

I’ll miss him too, hopefully he’ll stay involved with flight sims in some way.
I always appreciated his attempts to be as upfront as possible about things, even if it was news that maybe people didn’t want to hear.
Could be… Maybe they’ll make the Pacific theater now? Who knows.
I just hope that they will maintain their values and not go after the warthunder crowd.
I would say there is great opportunity for them in regards to wt crowds. wt is lacking singleplayer.
It is.
There’s big money in MMO. If they go there, I just hope they won’t leave the realism craving players behind.
I have nothing against WT like games (variety is the spice of life and all that) but, in this regard, thank goodness for DCS.
It’s the last remnant of a Combat Flight Sim where it’s possible, with great effort (and that’s the rub), to get an authentic Single Player experience.
AI improvements, across the board, being the thing that can have long lasting benefits to the “World” part of DCS World - an area that doesn’t really care what GPU you have.
So, Eagle Dynamics (ED) if you’re reading this, lets to do lunch - I’ve put a lot of thought into this area.
NOTE: I’ve never played War Thunder so may very well be talking out of my arse.
You arent.
Think air quake. With a horrific grinding mechanism and 15 year olds and russians shouting at you because you suck
This title started out with a WT type model and the negative feedback on Metacritic and other review sites almost killed it. If they attempt to go that route again I see no reason to believe that the negative reviews to the change won’t have a similar effect. The core group of Players would rather kill it than let it survive as an arcade type MMO.
Without Jason’s intervention at that time it would have been sent to the dustbin of history long ago

Me neither! A lot of people enjoy WT. But I’m not one of them.
All I’m saying is that I hope that they won’t go all in, into that market, if you know what I mean. I need the balance between realism and playability to lean towards realism…
We are one:
I was just making a blanket broadcast of sorts, acknowledging the WT point of view.
That cracked me up. I’m kind of the thought that, if you die in the game, it re-formats your hard drive - add some consequence. Too extreme? Okay, maybe just a reinstall of the game? Hmmm, or a monetary donation to a charity? I’ll stop now.
but it cares about your CPU though
True. My CPU has some spare cores laying around. Perhaps the talk around multi-core are a hint of improvements.
that sounds good … wondering why nobody in flight sims ever introduced selling airframes for one buck and after crashing it in game you will have to rebuy it
… that would be that improvement to online HI (you guessed it, H for human) we are waiting for
EA, Gaijin, and Wargaming have entered the chat
From what I’m seeing as feedback from other parts of the web, it seems to be universal among the fanbase that any even hinted moves towards a WT-type model would be a non-starter as far as they’re concerned.
What a great idea Like a Tamagochi that actually dies.
our sim hobby is so complex that I am loosing faith that the ever present performance hunt will end someday. I know, wishful thinking, it will never end
wish sims like VtolVR and TinyCombatArena could change the tide a bit.
Can’t help but feel apprehension about this.
I’m sure Jason will find a way forward, I’m not worried about him, but I am worried what the future holds for Il-2. Fingers crossed.
Is it just me, getting older and maybe wistful for an earlier glory that never really existed, or there some validity with the sense that the vocal sim fans of the 2000’s are largely moving on and not being replaced in numbers by a new generation? @BeachAV8R’s absence still breaks my heart. @777Studios_Jason’s shouldn’t, but it does.
Does anyone know how he’s doing?
