Its crazy, but I have some sets here that i bought at +/- 100€ each and now in second hand and in amazon some models because sold out cost around +600€. It goes high fast because if you use the lego system to buy all the pieces individually the price goes higher.
I remember reading about LEGO sets actually giving a higher return on investment than gold. Some of the premiere LEGO sets, like the first Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon was made in a limited number and quickly became the most sought after LEGO set, fetching prices five times its initial value. When LEGO made the new version they made enough sets, to keep this from happening again.
But old LEGO sets are worth quite a lot on the collectors market.
I also red an article about one guy who invested in LEGO to pay for the deposit on his house.

Oh yeah that place is dangerous. I know a couple of modelers have started working on corrections for the new shuttle kit, and SRBs/ ET to go with it.
Kai went to the store with Mommy and when I joined them over at Grandma’s house this evening he showed me what he had bought with his own money…
Of course…when I saw that I immediately partially subsidized it to the tune of $50. Gotta encourage good decision-making

Congrats and good choice of a model!
It includes a nice book and the choice for vertical or horizontal show. Also and a great point, the logos and texts are painted and not sticks (that sadly are damaged and aged over few years). So this model is top class quality and worth all cents!
