Lego!

Nice!
I have the UCS B-Wing, Snow Speeder and Millennium Falcon, but not the A-Wing…
Show us some building pics!

Will do! The Bricklink parts are due in by this weekend, and I’m already looking at the instructions with an eye towards moving the cockpit back and shortening the power core section behind the cockpit a couple of studs- the canopy is too far forward in the stock model- so I may need to order more parts. I HATE that I missed out on the UCS B-wing, but I’ve been looking at some of the MOC versions.

You like the A wing? The Y wing was always my second choice after the X.

Honestly my favorite fighter in the X-wing games- I like things that are fast.

Parts from Bricklink are due to get here by this weekend, so hoping to start building Saturday or Sunday- looking at making a couple of modifications myself on top of the ones I’ve ordered pieces for.

Yeah I’m not exactly sure what drew me to the Y wing considering it’s really a bomber more than a fighter.

Once I finish the plan is to go back and look at how to modify things to shift the cockpit and canopy aft a bit- that’s looking to be a pretty extensive rework though- the core structure is very complex.

There’s also a landing gear model in stud.io that I’m interested in finishing and fitting, and it appears the bottom of the ship is lacking in detail (flat vs. rounded/ boat hull), so there’s potential there for some additional work.

Nice!!

I’ve built a tug boat, a plane that looks a bit like an argosy freighter with turbo fans and a monster truck this morning.

Obi has immediately broken them down to components again to make “stuff to put in his dump trucks”

:sleepy:

Could be worse. My oldest is completely ignoring the treasure of lego’s I have collected for him and is only ever thinking of minecraft. If he’s not allowed to play minecraft, he’s reading about it or phantasizing about it. It’s maddening.

On the one hand I regret allowing it into his life, as it has shut out so many other interests he had. On the other hand, he’s already picking up valuable IT skills from it, such as fiddling with so called “command blocks” that allow him to make things happen in the game and learning how to find out ways around IT problems through book research.

His extensive and growing knowledge of the game far outstrips that of his peers, so he’s gaining popularity as the minecraft wizard. That’s a net positive I guess.

Mate, I’m in the same position with farming simulator 19.
That is even less useful than Minecraft. I mean he’s learning about farming i suppose. But its not exactly “vital” to later life.
Could be worse…at least it isn’t FIFA. I couldn’t cope with that nonsense

“But its not exactly “vital” to later life.”
we will never know…

I was maybe 12 when I got into computer games and sims. My parents used to hound me to get off the computer because I spent way too much time on it. Well it ended up that sims led to a career in aviation. I met my wife of 22 years on an aviation newsgroup and I got my current job through a friend I flew online with back in the late 90’s. So maybe Minecraft will lead to good things in years to come?

yes, much better be Minecraft fan, than Counterstrike fan.
In Minecraft you improve your organize skills, creativity, logic and computing (if you create something with computing logic gates there), the logic or resources management, etc etc
Imho its a good non violent game and improves more brain skills that the other famous kids popular games like CS, Fortnite, Fall Guys, Fifa, Rocket League, …

About the farming, Its a fun game, but really after a few time its a repetitive game like a job in a production line in a old factory.
But also a nice non violent game were the more you play and increase the more problems and tasks you need to do
It is a nice intro game for other simulators, see if he likes ETS2 and ATS, less repetitive.

But yeah, I agree, maiority of kids now only want to play on pc, older hobbies that we had/have are now lame to them also because global influence of other friends that are there etc etc…
My first PC only arrived when i had 14 and until then i had big time fun with legos (anyway legos is a somekind of a physical minecraft  ).
Nowadays I still buy some Legos like the Saturn, Ford Mustang, etc etc

To the kids that like farming sim, see if your kid will like Legos from Technics, they have some great tractors and harvesters.

Nothing repetitive about the bazillion mods he’s playing with lol.

I do admit a certain amount of pride when he comes to find me and asks to find him more “mods to download” bless him
