Lego!

those ships looks impressive!

I dont know if it just me, but ships do look great in any scale form - brick models, plastic models, wooden models, paper models …

aircraft or cars dont really talk to me in bricks. apart maybe from lego technic where the functioning of the model compensates for the aesthetics.

Yeah, they have made exceptions to the rule. I have two Sopwith Camels and the Fokker Dr.I.
They also have a few fighter-like aircraft in colorful schemes.

Wow!! The details are crazy!

Here is another of my own designs. The Casablanca-class escort carrier USS White Plains. I built this last winter but finally came around to order the last missing pieces in the correct colors. The black stripe at the waterline is the best I could do. Cobi would obviously get the line straight by printing parts in two colors

Comparison of escort carrier with fleet carrier (USS Enterprise by Cobi).

USS White Plains participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, where she was first engaged by Japanese surface units of the Center Force and later by Kamikazes. The battleships Yamato and Nagato engaged her with their main guns and White Plains suffered damage from a near miss, but continued to be operational. White Plains in return scored multiple hits with her sole 5-in gun on the Japanese heavy cruiser Chōkai.

With air group.

Too cool!
Could you post a closeup of those aircraft? I take it they are Cobi too?

Yes these are Cobi accessoires that come with most ships for the catapults. I collected quite a few as I keep buying Enterprises for parts

I just stumbled upon this Facebook group

Lego Air Command Group (Planes, Helicopters, Space and Airship MOCS)

There are also Ship MOC’s

I was drawn by the F-14 group photo

I just know that the subject fits right in here.

A few of the MOC’s

The site link

Note that it is strictly LEGO.

Enjoy!

Happy Building!

Here is a prototype for my next ship. Anyone want to take a guess? Colors don’t match yet.

Saratoga or possibly the Lexington. The circle on the deck is what makes me think it is one of those two ships.

I’m not going to have much time during my days off between trips. I will probably need to bring this with me on the road. You think it will look odd going through airport security and strolling up the gate in front of passengers with this box? :man_shrugging:

I take out the bags and put them in my bagage…

I have to admit the circle is just me not having sufficient dark grey parts yet. But you are right that it a carrier.

I have built in a lttle function which is actuated by a gear in the bottom.

Now who knows a carrier with an elevator of this shape?

Prototype for the flight deck. This is built “studs on the side”, which eats parts like crazy.

This thing is going to be huge
