I see @Sine_Nomine tooling about over near Seattle. I’m on another run out to La Grande (KLGD) and then I think I have a run out of there to Pangborn…
I have this image of a herd of lemming-like passengers marching with the luggage over the X-Plane terrain to their ultimate destination…
I am not seeing any jobs out of Pullman so I am flying the DC-3 over to see if I can scrounge up some work.
What happened here? No idea. When I got back into the cockpit from an extended Mudspike.com distraction I noticed that the left CHT was pegged. Anyway, I jumped in and feathered it. Rudder was way out of trim so I moved over the co-pilots seat so that I could better reach the rudder trim under the console and quickly snap-rolled inverted. I was latched on to the yoke with the VR Controller I was attempting to use to manipulate the rudder trim. Once I had that figured out, recovery was impossible. Instead of being a hero I rage-quit X-Plane before Air Hauler knew what was happening and logged back in to let the AI pilots reposition the airplane. This, kids, is why you never leave the cockpit.
I could export you a job…but they won’t have big enough loads to warrant a DC-3…my generated jobs only run about 300-800 pounds…
Yeah…looking at my jobs list the only thing I see would be three different loads to the same destination (KEAT):
489 lbs.
401 lbs.
308 lbs.
So only roughly 1200 lbs. of stuff…
I think once my plane arrives there should be bigger jobs.
…no offense.
Sigh. I’m used to it. Citation pilot.
Heading out of La Grande…sadly empty…over to 9S9 (Lexington) then on up to KEAT… A load of sheep. Baaaa…
Lol I loved that I was hauling medicine and livestock in my 172 last night.
Nothing out of Pullman. You know, I thought I understood this game but I am no longer so sure. Being in a VA and being furthermore at that VA’s base should provide some of the same connections as being at your own company’s base. I realize that I must transfer missions to the VA. But there is nothing in PUW to transfer. This, plus the lack of reps really negates any advantage of being in a VA other than as an excuse to socialize online. That’s not altogether and bad thing–I really like you all. What was my point again?
The VA functionality is either really low or we’re doing it wrong.
Even for me in my personal company… I visit new places and get 1 maybe 2 jobs. Even somewhere I’m visiting semi-frequently like kmwh. It’s just not generating much. I have lots of one-way jobs and then have to fly unloaded elsewhere. It’s probably realistic but uh… Ya. Not great for money or rep gathering
Well, there is one other advantage…if everyone were flying only for the VA it would make VA rep and VA money faster…and you could, theoretically, earn money and REP fast enough to perhaps getting into bigger equipment faster. But…right now…I think most of us are more interested in individual REP to get to that 40 level so we can take out loans.
I waved as I went by you.
lol. my young kids do not allow me to wrack up enough flights for the kind of rep jump.
I need a second plane so I can have the AI running and gaining rep for me during the day without me worrying where I had to finish flying.
Can you make out any relationship there? Like distance flown vs Rep, or weight or cost?
It is one point of rep for any cargo flight flown by you. I have my distance and loads set toward the low end hoping for short legs with relatively light loads. My average distance is probably around 100nm which is good because I can knock out a leg in about 45 minutes or so…
Well, that was fun. 50nm in, x-plane silently quits to desktop.
