Lesson learned: the hook won’t come down if the gear is not down. Gear first, then hook.
Finally made it it’s hard… So it turns out that the corsair has a bit of a cheat built in, in that you can enable some autopilot modes (only if you bind them from the controls options) like altitude- and attitude hold as well as an autothrottle. I’m sure the purist will hate it but it helps when fumbling head-down when getting the aircraft configured. This would also not make it so tedious to fly long stretches in this warbird when compared to others.
I like the sound of that! Is it just for the Corsair? Can’t tell you how many times I’ve wished for something like that when playing those long wwii campaign missions
Yes it appears so. I quickly checked the menus for the Dora, Mustang, Kurfurst and Thunderbolt and they don’t have such options. I don’t have the other warbirds so I don’t know about those. I also still have strained arms from all those channel crossings
thanks for checking - who knows maybe it will start a trend!
argh I picked the wrong month to take a pause from buying games… my hat does not understand why we aren’t already flying
So, WTH do a poor Ensign have to do to fire the guns?
PERISH
Checked and checked again…
Then what?
I noticed this
Master arm On
Gun camera switch to guns
Guns cocking button things to armed
Nothing
I did notice there is a gun selection. Inner outer or all. That might be it …I crashed before I could play with that
I got off the boat! (then immediately caught on fire.) Probably improper engine management on my part. Now I gotta go to work. Anyway, first time I’ve fired up DCS since November. Nice to come home after a break.
step one is to bind the trigger. this is the first plane in years that doesn’t bind the gun trigger by default.
Chamber the first rounds and charge the bolts on both wings on the left side of your left knee.
On the left brow, set the inboard, mid and outboard guns switch as required (up means selected).
Master arm up
Dispense with the trigger.
Holy heck is she twitchy. I shot all over the sky until I put a 10unit curve on both pitch and roll. Maybe put it on yaw too.
I managed to plonk it on the CV second try, but the takeoff was … just like the youtube vid. Sploosh!
Hostiles on a resupply mission near Saipan.
we have come equiped to put a stop to this (yes my guy is really that far heads down as I’m trying to understand the A-scope and fumble with the controls near the left knee).
Locked on! (I think)
(but no kaboom because I forgot to arm the fuse )
attempt #2
That must be the missing step…
Will try tomorrow.
Thanks!
Yeah, and she spins like…no aircraft I ever heard of… Must check if there is some sort of rudder assist that I forgot to turn off?
Or maybe the flight model just needs some adjustments.
Solid release, though!
I’m having some amazing flashbacks to Il-2 Pacific Fighters. This is awesome. Very well done!
I’m trying to get excited for the Corsair but all I can find on hoggit are complaints about the flight model allowing you to fly sideways and pull 20Gs
Hoping those get tweaked out in a timely manner.
Bless you!
Yeah, I could tell it needed a little tuning…
