Tell me about it
Still watching fireworks.
I’m usually around 95 so close enough I guess. Once wings level and crossing the ramp it certainly doesn’t look like 3pt to my eyes but at that point I have no idea what my speed gauge is telling me.
I’ve got a 200mm extension. I have a curve of 15 on roll which seems to match the in-game stick throw fairly well. On pitch I have the same as you, 20. Stick inputs are fairly stable but trim inputs aren’t. Especially rudder trim. Tapping rudder trim oscillates my nose so much I don’t dare touch it during the groove turn.
EDIT: Watching some replays I’m at 90 or a smidge over in the pattern, accelerate to 100 when I roll wings level at the ramp, then when I cut power the needle instantly drops from 100 to 90
then it has to be the I-16
plus some graphs [ its from IL-2 1946 v4.11 comparison tool ]

@Clutch the best way to nail the attitude is to practice the way they did, on a runway. Just flat refuse to accept a touchdown that isn’t 3pt or even tail-low. Once you are consistent, try to land on the numbers or 1st centerline. Like you, I do the approach at 95 and no more. I try to cross the fantail at 5’-10’ and idle. That generally has me near-stall and catching the 5-wire just before the super-structure.
Wow, so at 1km and below, the I-16 flies like a Zero with flaps 1, including reduced top speed
Is anyone familiar with how the Fleet Air Arm marked their aircraft? So far I understand the tail is marked with a letter to signify the ship to which they are embarked, but for the other numbers I’ve seen three variations:
Period photos of Corsairs are hard to come by, especially showing the X-YY format, but I noticed Seafires had the same format as well. Rudel on the ED Forums says the X denotes seat, so “1” for single-seat, but that does not track as there are plenty of photographs of single-seat Seafires marked with 2, 5, or 7 before their aircraft number, and I can’t find photos of Fairey Swordfish carrying a 2-YY number. I can’t make sense of it.
I’m slighly more familiar with the USN and USMC system but still confused on that front as well with the transitions from squadron number-aircraft number to 3-digit numbers in the 800s to no numbers at all to 2-digit numbers with no apparent logic behind them.
I don’t suppose this helps?
Hey @chipwich, can you run your server this evening? I have a friend that wants to play with the Corsair. Baring that, did you write it or is it available at DCS.
Absolutely. It should be up by 2025-07-12T22:00:00Z. Not home at the moment, but I can put up either the training missions or the Battle of Saipan missions.
That’s perfect. I can’t promise that we will be there as we often get distracted when we fly together (he prefers IL2). Thanks!
OK, the Marianas WW2 map is up right now. Will keep the server up all weekend, but might rotate to some other missions.

He just went to bed @chipwich. He’s on Belgium time. But if you do run it I might stop by after dinner. Thanks for running it!
My Sunday will leave little flying time, but I left this running on the server.
Nice shot. I whistled in awe
