Put me up for a membership in that group, please.
Ooh M1 Tank Platoon IV, yes baby, bring it!
Wait what? What happened to the third?
wasn’t three cancelled around the time of Gunship!?
I played a ton of M1TP2. I was around the age where you want to annoy your parents as much as possible. Loud music didn’t cut it, nor did terrible guitar play. But the sound of artillery, pumped through a powerful stereo system certainly did it to those old hippie boomers

Wasn’t the second supposed to be compatible with Gunship!
MicroProse always tried to do what DCS is doing now…
Gods how much I miss them. ![]()
So much nostalgia coming back with this Microprose buzz. Microsoft FS got me into simming and aviation. F-19 Stealth Fighter and F-15 Strike EagleII locked me into military sims. From there, Falcon 3.0, F-15 3, B-17… so many great Microprose titles in the 1990s. Looking back, like @komemiute said, Microprose was seemingly laying the foundation for that digital combat playground.
I just hope and pray this new MicroProse shows respect to the people who created the name they’re wearing now.
Always a double edged sword reviving an old name. One the one hand it gets people interested due to memories and/or nostalgia and can help get through the initial phase of letting the world know you even exist. On the other hand, it raises expectations significantly, and can even backfire if you do something that would be considered good for any other developer, but isn’t “in the spirit of” the old company.
Daily dose of pessimism: untextured models are a long way from having a complete game. They do show promise, but til I start seeing some actual gameplay I’ll remain skeptical.
MicroThunder?
Just no… ![]()

Falcon was never an MPS title to me. It was Spec Holo all the way. They had the MPS name when they made Falcon 4, before they became Hasbro, but it was still SH making it. It never felt like MPS.
Gunship 2000, F-19, F-15 SE, 1942 PAW, EAW, B-17…they had some naval ones too I forget the names of now, but I really liked all their stuff.
Yup, Microprose acquired SH while they were developing F4. They opted to slack Microprose on the game since it was more recognizable brand at the time. Both companies made great sims back then though.
Cool graphics.
Just like War Thunder.
Edit: I don’t mean to troll but screenshots are just jpegs.
Proper content those aren’t.
Some of those screen shots were from a year ago. So far they have announced Warbirds 2020 which will be released fall 2019 or 1Q 2020, teased an image of an operator in front of a Blackhawk, a tank, multiple apaches, a b17, a p51, etc.
Needless to say they have teased quite a bit. Looking forward to see how it plays out.
I’m really hoping for a ARMA style game with decent enough flight modeling and graphics.
There is also a connection with TitanIM somehow.
Edit: the MP CEO is the creator of titan. Maybe an openworld consumer military sandbox?
Urgh.
My faith in this is not growing…
Mine is. Arma and DCS are both commercial offshoots of serious simulation software. They are awesome. Therefore what wild Bill is cooking up is gonna be awesome as well.
This form of logic is known as a syllogism and used to be the only acknowledged form of logic from Aristotle all through Galileo. If it worked for monks deep in the dark ages, it works for me.
Maybe for DCS, but ArmA/FPs roots are a commercial game that got adapted into simulation software and VBS is a bit less serious than you might think.
