For somebody with full movement, probably. But if you are just moving a few degrees, having that translate to 15 to 20 degrees might be not be that bad.
Obviously being able to turn you head like an owl would be disconcerting.
Just an idea.

To be fair, I haven’t really been able to get TIR working well enough in XP11 for me to really like it. I find myself disabling it often.
It’s odd, every other game I’ve used it in has been seamless - DCS, FSX, Elite Dangerous, even ARMA… no issues. XP11? Just doesn’t seem natural.
There is a ‘lag’ built in to the X-Plane TIR implementation. It makes me feel like my head is swimming in a pool or something. It does not respond as crisp as it does in every other sim. It annoys me but after quite a few flights (looking at you Air Race), I have become accustomed to it. I would prefer that it not be there, though.
I’ve read some things about ways to set up the different axis to get good results…never worked for me either. When not in VR, I find the keyboard shortcuts and mouse work well enough.
Interestingly enough, the keyboard and mouse never were workable in FSX so TIR was a no kidding requirement…and the new MSFS won’t have it at the start?
This, I think is an understatement.
I can live without TIR in X-plane but I prefer to use it.
However, I use the X-camera plugin, which isn’t as wonky as the native implementation of X-plane
How are things in XP on the VR front?
Currently not usable for me, even with very bad graphics and no AI planes.
I haven’t tried the new Oculus software beta version though, which is said to improve VR frame rates across the board.
So a FPS issue not a nausea issue. Copy that.
I have found XP to be a bit squirrelly when it comes to FPS. For example, if using VR, when I enter clouds the frame rates tank. I’ll be flying IMC with 20 FPS. When I move my head, I see black-blank areas. Yet, when I pop out above or underneath, I get back up to 30 or 40 FPS. Why is showing a monotone of white-gray more demanding to the GPU than showing multi-hued terrain with water?
Vectoring back to the topic…I assume that not having TIR support right out of the (virtual) box is just because it can easily be added later. After all, it is really just another type of “mouse” used for pointing the POV around the screen. On the other hand, I think that VR requires a more complicated 3D cockpit with 3D click spots, etc. …although I could be wrong on that account.
Well not quite that simple. If you want to use full potential of TIR and its 6DOF, you have to implement features like limits for the player head positions so the view will not clip into cockpit geometry. Also you need to make sure your cockpit has no “holes” which could not be visible from the default poit of view but would be seen if the player peeked under or over or whichever other direction.
On my laptop where I do most of my flying these days, I only use KB and mouse for looking around. If I’m not flying acro, I really don’t have too much of a need for the speed that TIR offers. Don’t get me wrong I prefer TIR over KB and mouse, but I don’t see it as a necessity.
This is actually why I stopped playing XP11. I don’t get it. Why can they not get TIR to work properly and seamless in that sim? It boggles the mind.
Well, I’m very excited - this news from MS and the -admittedly rumoured only - specs that will be required to run it has finally driven the last nail into the coffin for my RTX 2060.
I never thought I would pay the kind of money that nVidia demands for their top of the range hardware, but I just caved (after hours of research) and ordered a 2080 Ti. Okay, I’m not well off in any way, financially, and bought the cheapest I could find from a reputable company (Zotac), but who cares? It’s n RTX 2080 TI!!
Despite the fact that my 2060 has been very good - and better than the 1060 it replaced, I have been really disappointed with the graphics in flight sims, and whilst I still expect to have problems with DCS World - I’d recently resigned myself to flying 1.5.8 in VR - I do expect this new card will do wonders for my simming in general, and all games I play, most of which are very demanding on the VGA.
Well done, Microsoft - you got me to do what no other could!
What are the specs?
They can’t get too high or the XBox One will not run it in 2021.
Or are you talking about getting it to run at max settings?
There is a new Xbox coming out by then with much newer specs. Not sure how the One would handle it though, if at all.
I know about project Scarlett. But this new FS is suppose to come out for Xbox One!
I didn’t see exact specs, if that’s what you’re after, but I did see that the hardware mentioned was in excess of what I have - for example 32GB of RAM and 2070 upwards.
These were mentioned to get the sim looking like it does in the half hour video they released.

They’re already talking tech alpha 2. Did anybody in Tech Alpha 1 actually get download information? I still have nothing.
