I’ve been watching more videos lately myself and I see the same, to where I’m starting to boil (FS2020) down to, at this moment, as having better default things than before, specifically:
makes acquiring photo/sat-scenery more automated.
much nicer weather generator.
AI Traffic
Not sure about the ATC yet, which is important to me for flying IFR. Interestingly enough, since Vulcan + VR in XP, I never fly IFR anymore, mostly bush planes - VMC down low - cuzz the experience is more engaging.
Third party dev’s I’m sure will take the tech and improve on it as always. Just depends on how much it is worth to me to go that extra step.
So, more Evolution than Revolution.
And graphics resolution can only take me so far; here’s music to my ears/eyes, perhaps:
Here’s something I just thought about…perhaps nVidia will now have an optimized ‘path’ for FS2020, GeForce Experience lists only 2 titles I own: ArmA3 and KSP. Never seen DCS, XP, P3D, or FSX in there as an option. Or I’m just missing something.
I think the optimization only puts the game graphics settings at the highest for what your card could theoretically handle. Doesn’t like make it run better other than making sure you dont try to run ultra settings with a gtx 770
Pint o’ Guinness … my favorite pint in the world! That will do nicely.
Hearing that FS2020 checklists and stuff can be moved to a second monitor, I’m so glad I found an old monitor wall mount last week that I mounted to my desk! You can mount any old $10 thrift shop monitor onto it and make it float right in front of your face! Doesn’t interfere with looking at my 60” 4K too.
Easy enough to mount my Thrustmaster Cougar MFD’s onto the screen as well …
I think this is a very nice look at the current level of sim fps and default large aircraft functionality. From here, people can decide if they think the glass is half full, or half empty.
YouTuber showing off one of my favorite strips included…it is one of the landings challenges airports so it has custom scenery. Link takes you to the point where he is getting ready to take off…
Nice vid! I streamed it to my 4K TV after dinner and was almost sure it was in 4K but it turns out it’s not.
I liked how the jet taxied on the rough ground. Enroute visuals were incredible. This Asobo Studio is blowing my mind right now. The only quirks I saw were the autopilot oscillations approaching the destination airport and the crazy forklift driver cruising down the runway.
Speaking of Asobo Studio blowing my mind, I saw this Rock Paper Shotgun vid right after. His first objective was to fly over his home … and I’m pretty sure that’s the first thing we’re all going to do.
There will definitely be a market for custom scenery. This video showcasing water ops and Sydney has some glaring inconsistencies, like the Sydney Harbour bridge being portrayed as a conventional looking road bridge; and Fort Denison covered with trees.
Still looks incredibly good though - the Opera House looks beautiful.
I think thats an across the board problem right now. The A320 video showed the AP doing some weird stuff also. As long as it takes people to create these mods, I’m not surprised the systems are showing some warts… Will probably get stamped out shortly. So far all of the videos I’ve seen have a few things in common:
Beautiful lighting/weather effects
Great ortho
Overpowered engines
Rudder issues, comments are generally its “twitchy”
Weird Autopilot issues.
FPS issues when using above mentioned eye candy in 4k.
Really looks like they have a solid base. Third party planes should be great if they can achieve the same fidelity as they do in Xplane or P3D. I mean if you take the top of the line modules (FF A320, TBM 900, Zibo 737 etc.) and can imagine those planes and systems depth in that weather/ortho engine, it will be great.
