Well my flight sim adventure was full of ups and downs today… my 10 year old desktop couldn’t cut it, didn’t even meet the recommend min settings, but it still ran, just looked like Flight Simulator 2020 Minecraft edition… blocky and ugly.
So I installed it on my Razor laptop, that’s been in the closet for a year… had to update that first, then 6 hours to download and install… taking up 1/4 of my hard drive… But when it was all said and done, it ran great, smooth and beautiful. First thing I did is fly around my city. My house, the Naples PD, the Naples pier, which looks underwater, but it’s really not, and then the mean streets of Naples I worked for 20+ years… those houses below that picture start at 10 mil. lol
I’m going to have fun with this I think…time to explore other places, like my old military bases.
I just wanted to share with my fellow non-TrackIR virtual pilots that for landings, it is pretty nice that you can sit a little higher by pressing the spacebar. By then pressing “previous pilot position” (DMS Down on my warthog stick) once, you can get a good read on your speed, alt and VS while having a great view on the runway.
For in-cockpit if not using Track-IR (roll on VR!) then it’s nice to use ALT + Up/Down Cursor keys (default bindings) to shift view. The cursors just move around as per normal.
Same for me, the house was build 2016 and all I get is a patch of grass. But I am optimistic that at some point the data will be updated!
Speaking of which, there is a Rolling Cache which is fully automatic, and there is also a Manual Cache which allows you to “paint” an area on the map which you want to have downloaded right now and kept on your disk. This is very useful for slower internet connections. Download at night, fly at daytime. Or the other way around
That’s bizarre, but appears to be exactly what happened to me! My PC was set to never turn off, but I did turn my monitor off before leaving it overnight.
Well, the King Air 350 is graphically nice. But performance and engines… mmm yeah. Everything is way off. I know it was never intended to be study level, but some of the things I am seeing are not even close. I guess it’s easy for me to pick apart since I fly the bird to bring home the bread. I wrote Microsoft and offered consultation. I’m here to help.
Would be nice to see the airfoil labs king air or the x-aviation TBM in that ortho/weather engine. Or at least a Reality Expansion Pack type addon for the stock planes.
Good to hear your guys’ feedback on some of the more complex planes, I’m using the base Gamepass version and have been tempted to pick up Deluxe version just for the Baron, but I expect it probably isn’t worth the cost of the upgrade pack.
Really I wish it was an A2A Accusim Cessna there for sale in the Marketplace instead of a Carenado, study level planes can’t come soon enough for me.
