Was feeling in the mood for something different and have been messing with stuff from this creator. Thought others might also be interested in taking a look.

THESE ARE 2024 ONLY

Who’s up for yet another Spartan Executive? :grinning:

I might pick it up later today.

Beat me to it!

I was hoping to surprise you with a new Spartan.

Curious to see how it stacks up against the others.

is there anything like the old game air hauler for either flightsim or flightsim 24…

I use NeoFly, which is somewhat similar. Well worth checking out. It works with both MSFS 2020 and 2024. There is a bit of a grind element at the beginning but things pick up once you get enough funds to rent more capable aircraft.

You’re not wrong. The column I miss most after stepping away from PC Pilot magazine was the Challenging Airports series. I absolutely loved writing every single one of those articles.

(My LEAST favorite article I ever wrote? - It’s a tie…the Wings of Power add-on for MS 200X (can’t even remember the year) and the De Havilland Mosquito review at about the same time. Hated every word I had to type about those products. Ugh. Pretty sure after those two reviews I was (rightly) never assigned a WW2 product again. Mission accomplished.)

Why was the Mossie review your least favorite article to write, out of curiosity?

I have a hard time generating expository writing, even if it’s about a favorite hobby or topic, unless it can be related to a personal experience. Don’t know how you ground those out for so long, but they were very much appreciated.

I need to clarify - that Mossie review was the Mosquito for whatever version of Microsoft Flight Simulator I was writing about at the time…not the DCS version. Not that it would have mattered. I just find writing about anything prior to the Vietnam era to be painful.

Looking back…yeah…it was the October 2008 issue and it was the Just Flight Mosquito…

I tried to put on a brave face though and write a fair article based not on how I felt about the subject matter…but rather the quality of the module. (It was good)…

After lining up on a runway during a career mission I saw a load of Cows on the runway. No problem will just go straight through them I thought. Then two of the Cows started moving about. When I came down the runway the entire herd ran off towards the trees. What !

Indeed, the animal AI has some basic logic of evading the big noisy things. I don’t know why they didn’t made a mission type for the helicopters where you herding animals like sheep or cattle.

one caveat though, the animals can walk on water

FWIW, I really enjoyed both the article and the add-on, which I flew often. Even though it was long before VR’s development, the DH.98’s cockpit was so well modeled and painted, that one might say, “you could smell it”, while sitting in it cold and dark. Just Flight did an amazing job in one of the first really professional looking launch videos, which sealed the deal for me. And although it doesn’t hold a candle to the current DCS Mossie, it is probably the aircraft that I think about when reminiscing about that era of civilian flight simulation.

Wasn’t aware…future improvements for people herding the virtual animals into water could perhaps invoke a virtual Whitespike (Tomorrow War) that could turn up and take the Helicopter out - how is that for virtual Karma.

Okay, posting the latest updates from Microsoft and it’s a long list.Hold on to your hats guys.

SU2 is released!

As we are now firmly into 2025, what’s the opinion on MSFS24 vs MSFS? I’m still quite impressed with the visuals and aircraft selection for MSFS, helo touring the points of interest is becoming my new favorite thing to do.

Are there any major quality of life improvements in MSFS24 compared to MSFS? I know there’s the career mode, and the ability to walk around outside the AC. Anything else new? I’m just not sold on spending at a minimum ~$70 to upgrade if that’s really all that’s on offer so far.

I can’t get 2024 to successfully launch. Its some kind of graphics error

Graphically,2024 is better, especially at low altitude. The flight model is better and there are a lot more included aircraft (although you may have some of them already for 2020). I have found it to be smoother in VR. It also has a much smaller footprint on your hard drive. Career mode is evidently still not great, but I have been using NeoFly for that. I purchased it mainly because 2024 is the future of the sim for the next few years whereas 2020 will increasingly fall by the wayside.
