Probably not the best day to release it seeing as it is also DCS Corsair day. I have a feeling one of them will end up in my hangar later today. I’m just not sure which one yet.
You have a point there Eric, they will probably both end up in my rather large collection of aircraft that I fly for awhile and then gather dust after the next shiny new thing catches my eye.
Leaning towards the starship. I already have the Corsair for MSFS, and it’s very well simulated. Sure there’s no bomb dropping etc, but in DCS there’s no Zero’s, Zeke’s or Tony’s to shoot at either. Meanwhile I can’t fly the starship anywhere else, and I do love complex simulations. The system videos just flight has been releasing have done a great job and of showing off how incredibly complex things are under the hood.
I haven’t played MSFS 2024 for months. Just loaded it up. Have to log in to XBox. Can’t remember my password. Awesome. Go through the process of changing it. E-mail first. Then a text message to my phone. Then come up with a new password. Try to login…and the stupid login box loses focus and you can’t even type in the password. A quick Google search says one of the peripherals is probably causing a conflict and to unplug all of them.
A flight simulator game that uses peripherals (lots of peripherals) makes you unplug them in order to play the game.
I give up. I don’t have time to unplug everything right now and figure out which cords are my mouse and keyboard to keep working. I know it sounds silly…but it just pisses me off that lately when I try to play games…they fight me constantly.
Apparently what is happening is peripherals are sending commands that take the login window out of focus…repeated commands like a throttle slider or button or something.
I just had a similar old man moment today while trying to install the AH-6 for VTOLVR. The steps to do so are so obvious to the young that there are no instructions, just: “Get it! It’s cool!” Well, yeah, maybe. But @$?!$& HOW? I finally figured it out but crikes! (And it is cool but that’s for another thread)
PS - I did get MSFS 2024 working. Hopped in a Skycourier in Papau…and all my grumpiness washed away. The Skycourier is kind of soulless though… I need to find a better ride. I liked the Do-228 in X-Plane…might fit the bill there. Anything without those God awful Garmin panels. Ugh…ugly…
I am glad you did. MSFS 2024 is great when it works. I think the key is not to get frustrated with it but rather enjoy the many aspects that work.
With the visuals of this sim, some of the aircraft and VR, I am living through the dreams I had when I started with simming… which I am able to trace back to Tomahawk
As for the non-glass cockpit planes - I personally go with the DC-6, Twin Beech with denarq mod, Transall (really stands out) and Learjet.
I am sure others can throw other aircraft to the pot.
