Their Fokker 50 is almost mainly the same system complexity as a GA twin prop.
Exist many aircraft because are bigger not necessarily more complex. Also who knows how to do 1 switch do 3, 4, 5, …
For example that GA bird is more complex to do than a dc3, why not do a dc3?
Looks like there is a Bush Trip DLC available. For convenience, it is offered through the in game store (use the code AVSIM for an additional discount). EDIT - Looks like you purchase it here:
Embark on this epic 15 leg adventure bush trip through Idaho’s remote back country and challenging landing strips right from the Bush Trip menu in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. This bush trip will behave just as the included bush trips, with the added feature of being able to adjust the time, date and weather. This is crucial as this bush trip adventure will take you through the incredible remote wilderness and challenging airstrips of central Idaho during thunderstorms, snow, and a giant pink super moon.
Is it though? My guess would be that most of the systems and G1000 etc are already pretty much plug and play for integration into that sort of aircraft. Maybe steam gauges and older tech is still needing more work hence the amount of newer style GA aircraft. I imagine less advanced in the real world doesn’t translate to the same meaning in the digital simulation world.
Hey that Idaho trip is mine! Thanks for sharing! I just found this forum thanks to your share. I love finding all these awesome forums to meet the community.
Please let me know if you have any questions about my Idaho Bush Trip. I have another launching this week and then plenty more to follow shortly after.
The mentioned GA aircraft is mainly a conventional twin prop aircraft with steam gauges and a G530.
IMHO the complexity (thats different than workload!) is similar or even less than a conventional old classic DC3.
Hi, welcome here!!!
If you do bush trips with steam gauges aircraft i will buy them all. Specially IFR (vor-to-vor nav) when the frequencies and angles will be on Trip plan waypoints window and fly over beautiful places.
Thanks for stopping in. I’ve been a vocal proponent that we need things to do in our simulators…missions, adventures, careers…so your package is just the type of content I’m looking for. Best of luck with the pack and future adventures!
Thanks! Well you can do my bush trip in any aircraft of your choosing, and the ETE info will update based on the plane you are using. So as long as you have it in MSFS, you can use it!
I feel the same way. I do love free flight, especially in MSFS as it’s so big and beautiful, but it is just way more engaging and entertaining with a mission to accomplish. I think adding more is probably low on their priority list at the moment, so I am excited I (and a couple others) were able to figure out how to reverse engineer the bush trips, but man, it was not easy…Took a week just to build it into the SIM, not to mention the 10+ days it took to plan and write out.
Sounds good. I assume the “ping-back” or whatever from the forum post led you here to the forum. The main site is here…you can see some articles on stuff similar to yours such as the old Aces Air Alaska…
Ah that’s awesome. Lots of cool information on your site. If you get bored and have a couple hours to kill I can send you the package if you want it for a review. Google Analytics showed me the traffic from here, and I just followed the bread crumbs!
For my day job, I am a travel photographer/writer/filmmaker, so MSFS and these bush trips has kept me creative and scratching the travel itch for the time being as all my international work for the year was cancelled back in March
Thanks! Honestly, it’s hard to say. I have a list of like 50+ regions I think would be great, so it’s hard to say which ones I will tackle and when. I can tell you a couple of them I took some test flights and the Sat image data wasn’t that great, which took away some of the punch (sand dunes are a good example…most are flat). The order will mainly depend on Asobo world updates. For instance, I had Japan on my list, but since they just did a big update on it, it moved up considerably. But it’s really hard to narrow down. The beauty of this sim is that the entire world really is available, so the possibilities are endless, and a little overwhelming for someone creating them!
Is there any specific locations or regions you think would be a good fit?
I’d guess the easy ones (as far as picking them) are Papua New Guinea/Timor, Norway, Greenland, Alaska. Lesotho looks like it has some great strips…we explored some of them…pretty nice scenery. I was hoping Brazil would have a bit more of the bush strips…but they aren’t modeled very much.
Yeah PNG is high on the list, for sure. I will probably dig into that one pretty soon. I have been to Norway a bunch and it’s so awesome. I have only flown through the the Lofoten islands in MSFS but that for sure would be a great addition. I think Greenland will have to wait until they fix all the issues with it. But is there even alot of landing strips there? I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet. It’s so crazy how much potential there is! Hopefully they put in the ability for me to make some actual ‘mission’ type bush trips. That’s some great suggestions and I am adding em to the list!
