Its my fault; I was lamenting the lack of complex piston twins in MSFS and the flight sim gods answered.

Edit: derp. Its a turboprop. Still…

Also, forgot A2A is working on the Aerostar 600. Should be a real treat!

piston or turboprop, I think the issue will be more with the word ‘complex’ but maybe Virtualcol upped their game as they entered MSFS market, dont know…

Next update for the Kinetic Assistant. New tab Thermals was added – it is not sort of weather simulation script, but simple gameplay element – you can load Userpoints CSV list (made in Little Navmap) where position and radius set for each thermal manually.

Controls and sound notifier settings added – now you can attach program functions to existing MSFS event (light only at the moment).

And all three other features improved – winch became smoother, catapult with arrestors more stable.

Is there any way to see the thermals?

I hope they expand the script to add a little cumulus on top or something.

IIRC ridge lift is already there in FS2020, with a (even rudimental like this one) winch and a few thermals this might already be some gliding fun!

…in VR dare I say  :vr:

I also heard that Peter Lürken’s old program “WinchX” works in FS2020, only needs an installed FSX on the same machine and has “some issues”.

Here it is tested with the aerosoft ASK21.

Does anyone of y’all have the setup to confirm that?

Also found this site:

EDIT: Contains links to glider models and software

yeah, they all made by importer, with minor manual changes. good enough if you want to try out some freeware glider, but most does not have gauges and/or realistic performance values.

WinchX does work for some, but it very unstable. worth to try but don’t expect too much.

I wish to place “something” into the world (like UI element or just custom object inside of thermal, or at least map) but it does not seem to be simple, at least I just haven’t found such simconnect functions. what about circling seagulls or crows?))

Definitely better than nothing, FSX also did that IIRC.

It seems like VR in imported FSX planes might be possible after all!

yep, but #3 trick does work only if interior model contain whole plane - wings and tail, and all required animation. if not - you have to mess with the model.

Cool to see the gauges as well. When I tried yesterday, I got just empty holes :slightly_smiling_face:

in panel/panel.cfg change all “location = interior” on “location = exterior”

Just downloaded the thing (v5) trying it now!

Tried out that SG-38 over the Hahnweide (EDST)

It is a fun aircraft. The instruments aren’t working though, and the flight model is very rough. But hey, it is a start!

The… uhmm… seat? I cannot really call that a cockpit.

Woohoo I made it down alive! It even tipped over. I halfway expected it not to.

After that I tried v5 of the dg808:
This one is pretty nice already. Working instruments (not clickable yet), nice animations.
The flight model feels good already but (from my limited experience with gliders) I think it needs too little rudder to keep the string centered. I am also not sure if the airbrakes in the real thing are that effective, if they are then I am very impressed.

It doesn’t tip over though.

Awesome work so far, can’t wait for the next version.
