MSFS - Add-ons and Releases thread

Even before that Aerosoft did a pretty good tomcat for FSX/P3D. It was top shelf stuff back in the day.

It seems we’re still in the “extra 300 with an afterburner” phase of fighter add ons for MSFS.

So, obviously not to the same level as the DCS Tomcat, but I think this is a nice addition for MSFS. I had fun with it this morning, buzzing around Miramar, getting my Top Gun fix :sunglasses: .

It had to be done!

I’ll try to get some more time in it today but my first impression is that it isn’t bad at all, you just have to make an effort to not compare it with the DCS F14 which is at a different level.

This unassuming little mod caused a huge stink (and a locked thread) at Avsim earlier today, and the mod was temporarily locked on Flightsim. To

Fortunately it is available again… At least for now.

A comment of Ekre’s states that he uploaded a sanitized version of the mod without war planes or gunman. Likely that is what got the mod reactivated.

The airport has now been updated, by a different creator than the welcome to Kabul scenery listed above.

The sceneries can work together, as Ekre has removed the airport in his welcome to Kabul scenery in favor of this.

Could be a good one to pick up!

I have the other payware Ketchikan, but the OrbX one does look good, and is a good bit cheaper. It probably plays better with the new Alaska mesh they released too. The Generic Ketchikan leaves a lot to be desired, so I would certainly recommend picking up a payware version if you fly in this area a lot.

Hype Performance Group have released the early access version of their H145 helicopter. It’s not cheap at $43 USD but the quality seems nice. I will have to spend some time with it before giving any recommendation, but so far so good.

Some shots from a quick flight around Ketchikan.

How’s the H-145 flight model compared to the H-135 Freeware?

It seems quite similar. Evidently they have made some improvements but at the end of the day it is still a helicopter shoehorned into what is currently a fixed wing sim. I find it more than adequate to enjoy flying it. Compared to the FlyInside Bell 47, which uses an external app for the flight model, the H145 is a lot more stable, but I would expect that from a helicopter that is heavier, more refined and with SAS. The Bell 47 is trying to kill you from the moment you start the engine…the H145 seems much more forgiving.

I’m not a helicopter pilot, so my expectations of a helicopter flight model are not particularly high. There is probably a lot missing, but as I have no first hand experience… Ignorance is sometimes bliss. :slightly_smiling_face:

What I discovered now is that finally I got the best SAR kind of simulator in the world.
A nice heli for SAR (H145), the best world wide low alt detailed scenery (MSFS), and the NeoFly that with premium bundle includes great SAR missions with 3D animated models and ramdomdly generated them to you have fun anywere in the world.
I was years dying wainting for something like this!

That sounds very interesting…. I’ll have to look into NeoFly.

I ended up going with AH2 for FS2020 but Neofly did look interesting as well.

Another unusual entry… the Gee Bee R3 released today. It’s an interesting concept design that has only flown in the real world as an RC model.

It’s very enjoyable to fly and should be a blast when we get the air racing addon later this year. The scaling seems a little off to me (maybe the pilot is too small, or the aircraft too large). Also there is a VR version that changes a few things in the cockpit due to scaling problems they encountered during development. I have seen some issues in that regard with other aircraft too. Talking of which…

The BD5 available through Sim Market has a similar issue.

It might not look very impressive but that will add a LOT of immersion to the sim.
