Hehe, so I’m going to assume that the MSFS no Internet connection screen I’m looking at is part of the celebration?
It looks like. I am in the same pond.
There is already a quickly growing cry-out thread on the official forum.
Copy/pasting this from over in the screenshot thread so it doesn’t get lost there: Quick note regarding the A310:
The version that downloads with SU11 is not the full “HD” version. If you go to the marketplace, there is an “enhanced” version that ups the quality of textures and opens up the passenger cabin.
Also, you’ll need to download IniBuild’s iniManager for real-world liveries.
Now that we have helicopters, I’m in!
Now that we have a DC-3 (pitty the C-47 was dumped when MS contracted the aircraft from Aeroplane Heaven) we can finally take to the skies over India / Burma / China to see what Flying the Hump was all about:
My last attempt at a ‘round the world flight ended in FSX in Rangoon awaiting a good C-47.
Now maybe I can pick it back up.
I used to have a good link to the Hump routes.
I knew it had to happen some day … Now I’m migrating to F drive
My fresh install last night was 160 GB.
Good looking bird in FS, but the framerate is bringing my computer to a standstill. Barely topping 30fps at times. Average 20-27. Outside of this aircraft I average 60-90fps.
Looking forward to your heli review @smokinhole.
I guess I’m also looking forward to @Aginor’s sailplane review . Actually, you’re really into sailplanes as well aren’t you @smokinhole?
Not really my cuppa, turns out. I’m admittedly an odd fit in that I like to fly with VR controllers (not flying with the VR thumbsticks but flying by grabbing collective and cyclic). The functionality for this is still limited with MSFS. I was able to fly the Calbri but the 407 requires physical controllers–not sure why. The Calbri did not fly like a helicopter to me. The sim itself is gorgeous–as we all know. I plan resume my Gamepass account once I can get my grubby hands on a XBOX series X and I’ll use that for my MSFS-explore-the-world fix.
I am into sailplanes but I stopped once I started flying helicopters. It’s become to much for my limited brain capacity to process. @PaulRix is a better source for how MSFS sizes up versus Condor 2.
Admittedly I haven’t ever flown a helicopter outside a sim, but as soon as I turned off all the assists, and adjusted my curves a bit, the new helis flew decently.
IMO almost as good as DCS. Maybe not quite as good, but not too far off for me either. Definitely better than ArmA and a few others.
Can’t wait for coming versions with more refinements.
Here are my first comments about the new soaring:
After flying another hour with the Xbox controller, I think you may be right. Even with all assists off it seems to dumb down controls if you manipulate the cyclic with the VR controller. With the Xbox controller it was plenty challenging–and fun!
