FROM THE FSLTL DISCORD: @EVERYONE - UPDATED INJECTOR RELEASE V1.3.6 IN THE FBW INSTALLER.

whakamolenz — Today at 9:21 PM

FS Traffic models support.

Changelog:

By default FS Traffic Models will be used as fallback after the FSLTL models in priority. A new setting is available in the injector config file and settable in the start up questions that raises the priority of the FS Traffic models above FSLTL models, in essence making FSLTL fallback for FS Traffic. AIG fallback sits below both FSLTL and FS Traffic in priority.

IMPORTANT: The FS Traffic injection processes must be disabled if you are using FSLTL injection. To ensure this, we advise that only the justflight-aircraft-traffic-fleet folder be in your community folder and all other FS traffic folders be removed / disabled.

  • Fixes for FSHud integration. Integration had not been reliable since the 1.3 upgrade of the injector. This has now been fixed and is fully functional again.

  • Sunshine Coast YBSU airport missing - now fixed and available for injection

  • Added links to user guide and faq at top of injector run console display with red highlight in the hope some people might read them before engaging our volunteer support team

  • Further class name tweaks in FSLTL in sim toolbar to prevent overlap with other addons.

Read the FAQs and user guide before raising support queries.

GotFriends have released their Mini-500 helicopter. It feels pretty good to fly in VR… not as twitchy as I thought it would be. For $15 it seems like a nice addition to my hangar. Available from the GotFriends website.

I also recently picked up the mini’s big brother by CowanSim… They are similar in looks alone, and not surprisingly, the 500E has a very different feel and level of complexity.

Which would you recommend?

And, is that the Higgins Copter?

TC’s chopper!
The livery is actually a standard one from Hughes.
The choppers in the original TV series were 500 C&D versions.

Well, this is me that you are asking, so the answer is both. The Mini is fun and quite easy to fly, the CowanSim 500E is a bit harder to handle and has more in the way of systems, although they are both fairly straight forward.

I will say this…. bearing in mind that I am not a helicopter pilot (infernal contraptions that they are  )…. I think the flight models of the two should be swapped. The CowanSim ‘full size’ 500E is to my mind a lot twitchier than the Mini, and my gut says that should be the other way around. They are both great fun to fly.

500E should be quite stable thanks to 5bladed rotor of smaller diameter. could be twitchy around the yaw axis though as the tail is short.

it has no hydraulic actuators for the controls. eg Bell 206 has. wondering whats easier to simulate.

just my 2c

I am waiting for the weather to get good enough in Switzerland to fly with a friend there who owns a 369 (4-blade 70’s 500). Can’t wait! @NEVO Is right from what I’ve been told, quite stable and responsive. Takes a bit of muscle to extract the full capability. The VSKYLABS mini-500 in X-Plane is also surprisingly stable; considerably moreso than the R22 for instance. FWIW, Cowan’s X-Plane 500 feels fairly convincing. I don’t have it for MSFS. (Feels weird buying mods that I can’t fully explore on a console PLUS feels doubly weird buying a mod twice for two different platforms.) I am glad Cowan has ported over to MSFS. The more cross-pollenization, the better, I think.

your plan sounds like fun!

same here regarding feeling weird about buying same module for multiple platforms.

just wondering about one thing. if CowanSims are going to abandon its XP fleet quietly as FlyingIronSims did, with their wwii fleet, or are we going to see updates from CowanSims for XP platform going forward.

I hope he and others continue to do both. Any creator who drops XP is dead to me.

For me a creator that don’t do a small patch to fix from xp11 to xp12 (and i not even expected for free) with excuse that not have time, and rebuild all the model for another flight sim for me loose all my respect because also they not respected their current customers. This is called post selling support.
Ofc msfs have more users, but it not means that xp is dead. this kind of thinking is the same as thinking that we all need to stop developing for osx because exist much more win computers than macs.
Imho msfs is healthy market and xp also the same. I know many many people that uninstalled msfs and nowadays only fly on xp12 and still buying expensive xp12 addons.

That’s all true. Years ago when @BeachAV8R and others started posting their experiences with the new MSFS, I figured it was the killer app and XP was toast. But now I see MSFS as a market expander. XP has the appeal of a very particular type of sim enthusiast. For every million that Asobo brings into the hobby, some portion will explore other options.
