Tempting! I love the Huey in DCS. Would be nice to try it out to see if it handles similar.
Black Square is working on a Starship.
A truly unique design which brought many firsts to general aviaton as an article on FSElite puts it.
With Black Square as an developer, it is reasonable to say that they will do the Starship justice.
Not really my segment of flight simming but this cockpit surely looks…
…unusual?
I may as well get it once it is out
That St Elmo’s Fire effect is really nice!
It gives me flashbacks to seeing a ten foot static lightning bolt stick out of our radome off the coast one night.
One of the weirder things I’ve ever seen.
I think this might be a must buy for me.
MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR 2024 DEVELOPMENT UPDATE - LIVE
Starts 6pm Eastern 6-22-24
Picked this up yesterday, haven’t really had a chance to try it out much. The 5 minutes or so I’ve had it looks great. The old Iris T-6II for FSX was a favorite, so I’ve been waiting for MSFS. Blackbird did a great PC-6, so figured I’d give this one a shot. Once I get some time I’ll put a review up.

The pic is from Blackbirds promo material, I figure they wont mind it being used here in this context.

We’re thrilled to announce the release of our entirely custom FMSv2 for the A32NX into the Development Version! This update is packed with some long-awaited features such as:
- Missed approach capability
- Alternate flight plan capability (initial implementation)
- Improved logic and handling of FMS routing
- Enhanced logic for constraints and speed/altitude restrictions
- STARs with multiple IAFs string together correctly.
While the RNP/RNAV vertical aspect is not yet available with this update, FMSv2 sets the stage for its future implementation alongside other planned features. Update now!

I can imagine that when an AF student pilot first gets his hands on the throttle and stick of that baby, it’s the first of many, “I can’t believe I get paid to fly this thing.” moments.
Actually you’re usually too busy reciting (Alan) Shepard’s prayer up until at least your first solo to enjoy the moment much!
Took the T-6IIa out for a bit of cross country tonight, Randolph AFB up to Sheppard AFB, and was doing some acro along the way near Brownwood in one of the MOA’s. Master caution starts squawking. Engine still making noise, prop still prop’ing, displays still displaying, so far so good. Warning panel is showing HYDR FL LO, not so good.
I do have the dash 1, and no I haven’t read it to any great extent, and certainly don’t have the emergency items memorized, so time to do sim pilot stuff. I’ve got plenty of altitude to work with, and the engine is still working. Aviate - Check. I had fortunately been figuring out the GPS (very nicely modeled), and I flip to the nearest airport page, T37 Goldthwaite Municipal (I’ve driven by there before IRL), 2.7 NM, set it direct to. Navigate - Check. As far as I know MSFS doesn’t let you declare emergencies or pan, but I did tune T37 traffic and announce my intentions. Communicate - Check.
Speed brake doesn’t work with the hydraulics out apparently, no biggie, the turn into the pattern got me below 150 IAS to be able to lower the gear. Emergency gear handle pulled, 3 green, 2 red. That does not appear optimal.
Turns out the two red are for the gear doors, and that is exactly what it should look like with an emergency gear deployment.
Not my best landing, got a little low early, goosed the PCL, consequently floated over the threshold, ended up long, but got her down, and the brakes worked. Checked the warning lights once I was done, had the EHYD PX LO, glad I what I had available was enough. Pulled out the tablet, and yep sure enough primary hydraulic failure.
This was all the result of just having the slider set at “realistic” reliability, no timed/planned failures. Certainly wasn’t expected, and was a great bit of sim pressure to have to figure out my way out. Fortunately, I knew enough about the GPS and the nav instruments to be able to find a spot to let down relatively quickly.
Really impressed with the Blackbird T-6IIa so far. Great visuals, great system depth, lots of fun to fly, and as demonstrated it can definitely keep it interesting.
Nice if they can get this to work. I’m not sure the roads, especially on hills, are consistently level enough to make this fully convincing…
Hmmmmm…
