The next world update has been announced, it is Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
That’s good news for people that like to fly in that area. Although some areas have not been updated in 2020.
In any event, I’m one of those that mostly flies in the US and in Germany/Austria, so I’m geeked about it.
It’s interesting to note that Germany is allegedly getting updated aerials, which will also be used in msfs2024, so it will be a preview of what we can expect in the next installment. Also, the team is allegedly using new DEM for most of Germany, making it even better looking.
Nice!
The new DEM is especially valuable in mountainous terrain, I expect it to be quite an improvement in the area I live in.
Have we ever gotten ANYTHING on the African continent? Or in Southeast Asia?

I lost both the link and the price but Miltech’s CH-47D is available bundled with several British carriers and frigates for around $27. @PaulRix wrote a nice review in the spring which can be found further up on this thread. I’ll just add that all of the functionality works with the Xbox. The bundle is packed with missions, liveries, loadouts, slings, boats and custom airports.
Nice!
I see the 72F has been released. Got to try it.
No announcement, news or screenshots. Just a general plug. I had a week off and got weathered out of an aerobatic contest so I did what the younger me would have done: played the xbox for 20+ hours. Some was spent soaring (a new MSFS experience for me). The rest was fooling around with some stuff from Miltech: The CH-47D mentioned a couple of posts up and the MV-22 plus the included ships and sceneries that came bundled with the planes. Both machines are terrific. The CH-47 is a bit richer from a systems and modeling standpoint but the Osprey is a joy to operate. It’s a bit of a challenge with a controller but I got that cracked after a couple of hours of fuddling with settings. For whatever reason I seem to have a fondness for seaborne artwork. I never knew that about myself. I prefer mountains over oceans. But I can’t help noticing that I have written little love notes to DCS for Supercarrier, and LR for the boats in X-Plane 12. Miltech’s stuff is even more lush and detailed. Breaking out of the soup and being rewarded with such a well-crafted deck make the experience joyfully repeatable. Static boats and moving fleets are scattered over the planet so you can almost always find the right combo of weather and light. Arial Refueling (as an added package) is coming soon, apparently.

The Global AI Ship Traffic add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator has been updated to Version 6.0 and is now back on Flightsim.to - offering a more immersive and comprehensive simulation of worldwide maritime traffic. Developed by Henrik Nielsen (KL791) and a team of flight simulation enthusiasts from around the globe, the freeware add-on introduces over 1,000 unique ship models and more than 2,000 liveries , representing various types of vessels from different regions.
Version 6.0 of GAIST Ultra includes significant updates, such as new ship models, enhanced route coverage, and optimized textures and routes. This expansion increases traffic density and improves system performance by reducing file sizes. Among the newly added ships are several cruise liners , including those from AIDA Cruises and Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria. A diverse array of other vessels, such as fishing boats, car carriers, oil tankers, and yachts, are also included to closely mimic real-world maritime traffic patterns. One of the standout features of this release is the coverage of over 300 ferry routes, complete with specific ferry models, as well as region-specific naval ships.
I love GAIST…really an incredible add on!
