Sorry, I should have added a link. It’s also available at simMarket.com, but I think it probably supports the developer more if you buy directly from the Wing42 site.
It had a lifting tailplane, which makes it unstable in pitch.
It’s unstable in every axis … Maybe it’s just my lack of stick and rudder skills .
Sounds fun!
That looks like serious fun. I’m having issues getting MSFS installed atm but im looking for aircraft like this specifically to play with. A great find @PaulRix
Mikael Carlson from Sweden flies a real one. I saw him fly it a few times at the Hahnweide airshow and I admit that I would probably not dare to hop into that one. In the simulator though… sounds good!
That looks fun, but 20 euro’s for a toy to take around the circuit a few times… bit of a steep price to me!
True, it is certainly a niche aircraft, and there are others that I know I will fly more often. Still, it’s different and there is a lot of history attached to this plane. The developers did a great job with the manual too, including information on some of the more important events involving the Bleriot XI (the famous channel crossing, and also the first crossing of the Alps and the Pyrenees). You also get three versions of the airplane with a number of liveries. Add to this the unique handling challenges, it is IMHO worth the asking price if you are interested in this kind of flying. As I said though, it’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea… For me, it’s like a fine Earl Grey!
Fair enough, that is a good argument!
This is a really good review. The reviewer was given a free copy but I think he does a really nice job with it.
Messing around with the latest version of Flight Control Replay for MSFS… This still needs to be an integrated feature of the sim, but for now, it does the job.
These shots are from a quick flight I did in VR with the MB339 flying around the UK’s Lake District.
Which add-on are you using for the replays? I’d love to get some nice screenshots/vids that look prettier than my bare-minimum settings on VR.
I have been using Flight Control Replay which is a payware utility…

It is pretty straight forward to use, but does involve some Alt-Tabbing. There are some freeware flight recorders available though (which I probably should have tried before buying this one).
What’s your first impressions Paul?
First impressions are good, although all I have done so far is fly around some familiar places in VR with a big grin on my face. It’s not up to the same level as the DCS Spitfire but it looks great, flies nicely and the engine sounds are nice. The cockpit is very well done and both cockpit and external textures look great.
Ground handling seems a little bit off. It seems like the gear is a little spongy to me and could do with being stiffened up a little. You certainly have to keep flying the airplane until it is stopped, otherwise you will dig a wing in. Takeoff can be challenging too. For the price I think it is well worth picking up…
I need to rent a plane and make that pilgrimage out there sometime. I’ve walked it in real life, but never flown into that strip. At 3,000’ - it was a bit shorter than what our company wanted to operate King Airs to…even though it really wouldn’t be a problem.
