It’s nice that the rare Canadian SOP of flying the 104 standing up has finally got some photo proof…
It is such a beast of a machine.
@PaulRix, you should keep takeoff flap for the flame out forced landing and extend the gear in the flare…
They were not taught that, more it was a consequence of being ejected through the floor. All of those guys began their careers 5’ 2".
That doesn’t sound like a whole lot of time to check for three green…
Well, even at 10000 ft you don’t really have time to troubleshoot and you are landing anyway, wheels or no wheels.
You already did the alternate gear extension… Nothing left to try.
nicely executed @PaulRix and great looking module
hopefully once I reach Port Stanley I will earn enough money in NeoFly so I can acquire it
The only thing holding me back from this one is that SSW seems to be releasing the single seat version at some point. But as a stand-alone.
I almost always prefer the single seat variant of any fighter. Though for the TF-104, it somehow works.
That’s the first I have heard of that… I would hope that they at least give a discount to those who purchased the TF104. I can say that it is a very enjoyable airplane to fly and I have no qualms about recommending it.
I am ok with the TF in fact isnt the TF the only flyable 104 IRL ?
I think so, yes.
Well, the Norwegian LN-STF is a CF-104D which is basically a TF-104G but with a canadian built engine and some other minor differences.
She’s not at all friendly on the takeoff roll, but if you can get her airborne…
The Seafire 47 by Rob Richardson, available for free at Sim Outhouse.
I was intending to be good and not buy the Kodiak but there were so many people saying good things about it that I folded. Probably no surprise to anyone here though .
So, it’s very nice from what I have seen so far. It should be a good addition for NeoFly/Air Hauler2/FSEconomy.
Loaded up with some boxes at Dundee airport.
Slipping the surly bonds…
I flew north to RAF Lossiemouth. Hmm…looks like someone is testing the forthcoming F35.
I landed and the F35, looking very airliner-like hovered over the field…
It then slid over to the apron, and hovered there for about 20 seconds before touching down right behind me.
More Kodiak fun…
Talkeetna, Alaska to the Denali (formerly - Mount McKinley) Base Camp.
Loaded up with supplies for the climbers.
Denali up ahead…
It should be a case of following the valley.
But this doesn’t look quite right… I’m in the wrong valley. Maybe I should have used that newfangled GPS device .
I made a turn while I still had room to do so…
and picked the best point to cross the ridge-line into the adjacent (and correct) glacial valley.
Climbing hard…
I made it across, but it was close.
Eventually I found the base camp runway. It was not easy to pick out from the background.
Touchdown!
Time to unload the boxes… where is everyone when you need a hand?
I have to say that while the Kodiak wasn’t on my list of must-have aircraft, I am really enjoying it. I guess I will be buying the float/ski upgrade when they release it.
As much as I dislike the appearance of the glass flight deck in the F-35, you are certainly making a strong case for picking it up.
Well, I would recommend reading up about the CTD issues. There is definitely a problem with the aircraft in that regard and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Some people are having no issues, others can barely fly it before a CTD occurs. For me, the A model seems to be the most stable, and it is the vanilla F35 with no exotic ‘features’ such as STOVL or carrier capability, so that may be why I am having no problems with it. It’s awesome up until you get hit by a CTD… I don’t regret the purchase at all, but I want you to be aware there is a problem with it before you buy.
I picked up the MCAS Mirimar scenery last night to compliment the F35B. I think they did a nice job for a $10 scenery addon.
The F35 with the open canopy is of course the IFE F35B…
The static F35’s look pretty good though.
There are plenty of Hornets parked on the ramp. You also will see Osprey’s, CH53’s and C130’s
Never mind the tactical capability, the airplane itself is a technical marvel…
Now, they just need to sort out the CTD issue with this airplane. Once they do, I can see this being one of my favorite addon aircraft.
Paul, you and I are in lock step with the Lightning. I’ve got a Tomcat campaign to finish, but have been completely distracted by the F-35. Most likely blind luck, but in ~ 6 hours, I’ve only had a CTD once, when trying to launch the Sky4Sim Pad. Functionally, it’s very similar to the P3D version, which is not a bad thing. FWIW, there is an F-35A and F-35B from AOA for XP11 in the Org Store. I had the A variant and thought that the DAS implementation was very cool. I haven’t flown it in a couple of years, but my memory was that the IFE P3D effort was a little more stable and worked better in VR.
When I first saw photos of the JSF, I’ll admit that I wasn’t too keen on the design. But she’s really grown on me, and like you, believe that LM has created a spectacular technological achievement, especially with the B variant. Whether a VSTOL aircraft is relevant in the modern battle space is an argument for another day. In the meantime, I’ll be enjoying the Lightning in all of its variants thanks to IndiaFoxtEcho.
