Those are just beautiful screenshots @PaulRix . I know this aircraft is in an early state and was wondering whether you or anyone knew whether the developers were going to update and upgrade the HMD. I think the current one is just a placeholder IIRC. Does anyone know what new stuff or upgrades the developers intend to implement in the aircraft, avionics wise?
Also, what are the blue boxes in those hangers for?
As for the HMD, I think right now they are limited by what MSFS can do…so it is effectively just a fixed HUD. I’m guessing that they will make it a more realistic HMD when the SDK allows for it. At least it is a collimated HUD.
That is VERY cool but viewing those vids on a 55" 4K screen, the 8K versions look way closer to the detail you actually get running MSFS2020 in 4K. The 4K vids look blurry to me.
Today is my birthday, so I got myself a present.
And what would fit my 38th birthday better than a P-38?
The engine management and the fact that it doesn’t seem to have any radio navigation equipment makes it quite a handful to fly (especially when you have the engine damage activated), the workload is there.
But it is fun to fly, and almost as fast as props go.
You just need your E6B at hand, because the speeds are in mph…
The cockpit layout is… a bit all over the place. It adds to the challenge. The P-51 or “modern” GA planes are a lot more tidy. But this is quirky and fun. I hope Flying Iron brings it to DCSW as well.
I took it for two short flights to get used to it, and now I am wondering what I could do with it. I already have a few ideas…
After flying something ultra-modern for the last few days, I wanted to fly something older…so the Aeroplane Heaven F3F-2 found it’s way into my hangar.
She has a nicely detailed external 3D model. You can certainly see where the Wildcat came from.
It’s a nice airplane but definitely not study level. The radial engine also sounds a bit anemic… At almost $30 I would say it is a bit over priced but it is an interesting airplane from a historical point of view.
The gun sight can still be shown (although non-functional) but it is more in the way than anything else.
As for the barrels missing… I don’t know, I like both looks. Some people seem to be very angry about them missing, but I don’t fly the plane for the guns so I don’t really care.
Touring East Falkland between Stanley, San Carlos Water, and Goose Green in the Hawk and Goshawk. I know that the DCS South Atlantic map will have more objects and you will be able to blow stuff up, but if the environment looks as good as this, it will really be an accomplishment.
