MSFS Updates/Patches

Is it possible to update through the Microsoft Store, or is it just by the update checker when starting MSFS?

First from the Store and then the big part from the sim.

Though the sim should prompt you to the Store nevertheless.

Yeah, when I started MSFS it said the app needed an update. Clicking OK opened the store and a 600ish Mb update was installed. When starting up MSFS again it stops at checking for updatesā€¦ Maybe Iā€™m not the only one tryingā€¦?

Gosh is it slowā€¦

For some reason Iā€™m not seeing the updateā€¦ the store just prompts me to ā€˜Playā€™ and if I launch the sim, it checks for updates and then loads as normal.

Edit>. Finally, itā€™s started to update. :sunglasses:

Sooooā€¦
ā€¦after the 40ish gb of the sim update there is another 23gb update in the content managerā€¦
ā€¦the saga continues.

In that case I donā€™t think I will be able to play with it today . Iā€™m 9% into the 40Gb download right now.

Same for me. The content manager update goes much slower than the sim update

Got something to be looking forward to once the download is finished

I have to hit the road for several days starting tomorrowā€¦so I might have to wait until then before I can try it. Iā€™m up to 15% now. :joy:

Mine finally finished, Iā€™m definitely seeing a fairly significant performance improvement on my PC.

As in, Iā€™d actually be willing to fly around a major city in a more complex aircraft whereas Iā€™d be hesitant before. It is much smoother than the frames I was getting previously.

And just this evening wifeydear decides 8 hours of work on a day wouldnā€™t be enough and that database error needs fixing now.

BTW, when starting the update, I got to browse to where I wanted my ā€Packagesā€ā€¦
I take it thatā€™s where I want the installation manager to put the update download?
Anyway, the installation manager suggested the user area on the C: drive, but I have MSFS on the D: drive, so I tried browsing over to the MS App folder on D: when I got a note saying I must select a folder where I have read and write authority.
I tried right clicking on the folder and unticked ā€read onlyā€, but that didnā€™t helpā€¦
Whatā€™s up with that?

TBH, this video does not show much as it is just plain footage without any meaningful measurement or comparison (to be fair he mentioned heā€™d do it once back from holidays).

But yes, the video shows that he is happy :grinning:

Mine is similar. Install is on D, but the upgrade always shows C in the prompt. I always just clicked continue. It appears to have actually installed to D. My C drive definitely does not have enough space

Well, the fact that heā€™s running MSFS in VR, with ultra settings over London is a meaningful measurment to me

Hereā€™s a video with some FPS. Looks incredibly smooth. Letā€™s hope that I can get my download started soon, so I can try it out myself!
