The good news is it’s pretty basic/easy to pick up. No shame in using the auto start in MP either.
I set the birds hot start from parking just to help anyone whom has to respawn get back in the air quickly.
The server is up for connection testing. Details in the OP.
We’re out for the rest of the day sorry, if it’s still up when I get back I’ll jump on and have a see
I’m unable to test in VR right now - but tested in 2D was working just fine. Just over 2 minutes to connect to the server and load the mission and another 45 seconds to be sat in the Hornet, ready to go.
Thanks Johnny. Good feedback.
Sounds good. I should be able to join in as well next Saturday.
I can join fine, and my ping is 280 which should be fine if I don’t try to fly close formation (or I can jump in a backseater slot if I’m causing warping problems).
Count me in too! Happy to make up the numbers in whatever jet needs a fourth to fill out the flight.
Ok I’m now fairly confident of the A/A basics with all weapons, though not the advanced radar functions as yet, as well as dumb A/G weapons on the Hornet. Might get time to learn LGB procedures this week and hope to have a good idea of SEAD procedures by the time we get operational on Saturday.
We won’t need any SEAD for our first mission, and time permitting if we fly a second mission, we have AI assets that will handle that. The attack profile that you should be ready for on the first mission is low altitude high drag Mk-82Y 500lb GP chute retarded bombs. Like 100 ft AGL at 500 kts
That itch to make a unit conversion error and use the 400 kg chute-retarded bombs…
For you Sir, although you can certainly change your loadout.
4 x SAMP-250 250kg Chute Retarded GP Bombs, 2 x RP35 Ext Tank, 2 x R550 Magic 2
That’s probably best yeah. I tend to blow myself up with the 400kg ones.
Could you add a Barrax ECM pod too? Not a big deal if I have to ask the ground crew to load it but it is a good way to check that the EE version is the one loaded in the miz. The CE cannot load the ECM pod (and does not have an INS).
and what role left for F5 ? chase plane !?
my plan actually was to train a bit in the ‘chase plane’, the T-38 in XP11, didnt fly her lately a lot
OK, now I’m getting the vibe of the mission… can I please have an EE with SAMP-250s as well?
I’ll take a strike eagle with all of the snakeeyes
A very convenient schedule has crystallised for me so I can be in the cockpit quite early, from 2023-09-16T17:30:00Z
Am fine starting the mission later if that suits others better
Put together a kneeboard with the briefing and the intel photo from RocketmanAL’s original PDF briefing (I use VR, so stuff that isn’t ingame isn’t easy to use).
Here if anyone else wants it …
Edit: new version below
Thanks Torc. I’ve actually modified the original mission quite a bit. The new attack vector runs more or less parallel to the runway, with a heading of 265M. See new mission map uploaded in first post.
NOTAM
MSA enroute to SP1 is 7.9, but I would stay above 10k if in IMC.
INTEL
- 23 MM AAA is thought to be heavy at or near the target.
- SA-2 and SA-3 sites are operating, but only near Abu al-Duhur. They should not be a threat unless you egress West.
- KC-130, and KC-135 support has been assigned just after steerpoint 5, should anyone want to top off outbound or need a splash on the way home.
- MiG-21 and MiG-23 with IR missiles only are expected to be operating in the AO.
TARGET ASSIGNMENTS
- Chevy 1 (F-15E) ISIS HQ tents on W side of ramp.
- Ford 1 (F/A-18C) Fuel storage tanks SW of ramp.
- Pontiac 1 (F-1EE) MiG-23 x 3 on ramp.
- Dodge 1 (F-5E) Technical vehicles parked runway center. Alternates: Mi-8 aircraft operating in area.
