It’s not going on the calendar until he fixes the out of bounds mapping
If you stay on the fairway and greens, you’ll never see an OOB area!
Ouch. A better second round in the latest event…but I think I was around 15 strokes off the pace set by @Sine_Nomine! How the heck is Pepg able to play the tournaments when he isn’t even a member of the Mudspike Society there anyway? I don’t see him listed as a member in there…?
Anyway, I had two awful rounds. Just couldn’t put any shot together in any coherent way.
Do we have more events lined up @Rhinosaurus?
Just think out loud here …
So if we combined this Golf game with DCS World, XP11, and Elite Dangerous, would that not be the perfect computer game? EVER?! And in VR??!!
If only there was a PC powerful enough to handle it…note to self, need to call Intel and Nvedia on Monday.
Free weekend on Steam for The Golf Club…and on sale for $19.99… I think I’ve gotten a great value out of this game. I’ve really enjoyed it…
Is there a Bethpage Black Course to coincide with the PGA Event?
IIRC, Rhino has the group set to public access? So maybe our events are showing when other players search? But anyway, this player does appear to be active on a few other forums for TCG.
Nice course this week. I had some luck on the first round (finished just one stroke behind pepg!), but my second round was mostly working to hold par, until the last couple holes when finally birdie opportunities opened.
I’ll look into the settings. I left it open so people could join without me having to invite them. But it’s annoying this guy is running around smoking us without even conversing with us.
As for more events. I can see if there’s a Bethpage and then I think I’ll end this season and look into setting up a new one.
Sweet…! I’ve really enjoyed playing these rounds. Thanks for doing the research and setting up the events!
On another topic - am I the only one who would rather find himself in a sand trap (as I often do) hitting a flop shot onto the green instead of having to chip from the second cut of fringe?
Alright I’ve added Bethpage for the next week.
I’ll be spending that week researching how to set up a proper season.
If you have course suggestions, feel free to post them here or in the favourites thread saghen made.
I will be making the entire season free entry in order to encourage more participation. I’ve already upgraded the clubhouse so there’s not really anything to spend the coins on anyway
Nice, looking forward to the coming event.
So after much contemplation I decided to finally switch from the Pro to Masters clubs, I wish I would have sooner. I noticed with the Pro clubs that even though I was keeping within the “blue good contact” zone or whatever it’s called, the ball was still veering in the direction I went past center dead center. So why not just add the extra yardage to my clubs if the ball wasn’t going to go straight anyway?
Well low and behold that was pretty much it, not really sure what that blue stripe actually does because it certainly didn’t seem to make a difference how wide or skinny it was. Coincidentally I stopped getting weird loops in my backswing and all sorts of things, I dunno, maybe I’m the last one to switch over, but if you’ve been waiting to do so it may be best to give it a try. Obviously each time you move up the club set distance on shots is added, but oddly i’ve noticed far more accuracy as well, seems counter intuitive, but just my observations.
You’ll need the length on Bethpage Black. Wow…what a course. Tight, long, and the greens are glass. I had a fairly miserable first round…some good holes, and some really, really bad ones. Love the course though…fun challenge!
So I appreciate feedback regarding the rigidity of these courses. Many of the courses by TGCmember are used for the tgctours.com tours (or at least they used to be) and they can be absolutely brutal. Firm firm v.fast with tons of wind … Not my idea of a good time. The few I’ve hand selected I’ve tended towards nicer ratings (though pretty much all his courses have firm greens).
If we aren’t liking that so much I can search for more nice courses with friendlier attributes. Just keep in mind most of the good courses are by him.
Yeah…I enjoy the difficult courses and settings too @Rhinosaurus - I haven’t thrown a controller yet…so there’s that!
I wouldn’t bank on it being the change in clubs that did it, how fast you swing your clubs to get “perfect” shouldn’t change from course to course. Either I completely forget how to swing when there is a lot of trees and shadows on the course or they cause issues with the swinging (especially with the controller).
teeing off between the trees on ground level I was hitting everything fast/fast or very fast/fast. The second it got to the elevated tee’s out of the shadows suddenly my timing was normal again.
It was better the 2nd round (did the time of day change?)
That said, 90% of my “flubs” got me dead center of the fairways due to course correction from the wind I just couldn’t putt to save my life.
I think those were two of my highest score rounds to date… I’ll bet I only hit a few fairways in regulation and one of those holes (maybe #5) had a murderous upper tier pin placement that made a clown show out of my putting attempts… It was so bad that it was good. And I should really know better than to try to play a round without a beer next to me. That never ends up with a good card at the end of the round…
Some of these greens are a gong show.
@Sine_Nomine
we were talking about the same thing, there are some courses that due to whatever exactly, i’m not sure, change that timing so you could easily miss those targets you were talking about, through input lag or what not. That timing should be the same on all courses, all I meant was, it is not consistently the same, some holes and courses overall are worse than others in that regard. (I believe it is less noticeable on mkb than a controller)
I’d also like to thank @BeachAV8R for bailing me out this time around
Lol @ unplayable
