Mudspike Elite Dangerous Players

You know… maybe this was the issue. I want to say I did this, but maybe I didn’t and just thought I did. That would be rather embarrassing.

LOL, no worries man. We all make mistakes!

No worries, it’s not all that intuitive!

So, has anybody started doing the Engineers stuff yet? I think I’m going to pick up a unit of Meta-Alloys tonight and maybe a new Asp to turn into a test mule.

Just sort of started. On my way to check out some Engineer bases. Not heard great things about the materials collection grind, but will give it a go. Planning on tricking out a Cobra.

I can definitely understand that, as it seems like a lot of the finding of materials is rather hit or miss. Still, if it’ll help me build a ship that can cross the Formidine Rift…

I haven’t unlocked any yet, and am still rather poor ($2M liquid:$4M total assets or so).

Definitely interested though. Picking up all sorts of random data and materials doing other stuff. A lot of mission board contracts reward materials needed for these from what I can tell as well. Unfortunately they take up cargo space so you have to sell them.

What kind of ship are you running mostly? The Type 6 was rather marvelous for everything except combat, and has a very respectable cargo bay, to boot.

Viper mkiv.

I was getting interdicted like crazy in my adder kitted out for trading. The mkiv has almost the same trading capacity stock settings as the kitted adder and doesn’t suffer from having weapons and shields. I’m being bothered less and making similar eamoun of cash per run now, plus I’m able to take on combat roles without having to swap ships.

Interested in the keelback as my next ship I think.

I’m pretty much same as you Rhino. Also about same amount of credits to my account. I take it slow and cautious in my journey across the galaxy. I’m just a poor, average working trader. :relaxed:

If y’all want to wing up some time and do some mining or trading, let me know- I’ll bring my big guns. I’ll be stepping back into this one more often.

Managed to do a salvage for chemicals this time. Rank of mission was only mostly aimless so it worked using discovery scanner outside the beacon. So I’m guessing I didn’t scan the beacon itself last time, and I only have basic scanner so using that in cruise wasnt good enough for a scout level mission.

updated the list with my in game name. Evidently it was Tyco all along.

just in case some are not aware, you can earn money flying in a wing where one player is trading or mining and the others are providing escort, even if they are not shooting anyone…

you get a percentage of the profits, and I don’t think its taken from the trader miner. Its not a massive.

… well that used to be the case a few versions back

IIRC it’s still the case- otherwise Winging up would have no benefit…

Took a mission to collect 21 tons of LiOH. As an experienced miner, I figured how hard can it be?

Holy balls. Ice mining is SLOW. 50 limpits expended for 4.5 tons of product.

I did mining before the collectors were introduced… collecting canisters and stuff manually is balls. Never tried with the limpets.

Even grabbing the one canister I needed last night reminded me why I hated mining so much. Maybe with the auto collectors it’ll be more fun.

Edit: and if the collectors were introduced same time I just hadn’t bought them. Memory says it was after, and only the cost would have kept me from using them anyway.

It’s a night and day difference, seriously. Also add in the resource buff you get from a prospector module, and it actually makes mining quite profitable. Well, at least before Engineers, anyway. This is my first time mining ice ever, and my first time mining in general in a couple of months.

I’m really enjoying this game! Very pretty. The random encounters keep things lively although I’m still confused as to what’s going on with all these wedding barges.
