I like your initiative, adlabs. Way to work off what you buy, instead of buying equipment that other people toiled for. @Rhinosaurus
I’m going to try and add links and a couple new mods before I get on the server tonight.
I’ll post when I’m starting as I’ll take the server down since it needs to restart to take effect anyway.
I’ll look into that update. Thanks for the info!
Pshaw. I did some harvesting seeding and weeding last night! Not to worry!
Server restarted - mods added. All mods updated in op with link and placement in modmenu info.
LOL did someone take the weeder around the sheds? or use a roller?
all the flowers are gone
yes adlabs mentioned that a few posts up. …
missed that line!
18 needs to be finished plowing (it ticked over as we left - big trailer is holding soy right now so you can use that)
19 and 11 need lime
19 needs weeding
19 will need a second coat of fertilizer at the growth tick
11 needs planting
also keep an eye on the eggs ![]()
Planting soy has been really profitable. There’s currently one crop of Canola, the price is overall lower, but it’s nice to have it for variety.
So I’ve found a thread where someone did some research into pricing. I can post it if we want, or we can just keep playing as is without “knowing” the general ranges etc… I haven’t looked at it for more than a glance. Seems pretty detailed.
For me personally, a link worth saving for someday the future. At this early stage, I’m pretty happy taking the market as it comes.
Suffice to say from quick perusal, things are balanced. We’ve just been getting relatively high soy right now.
I didn’t check the numbers or anything but the conclusion listed seems to be that you should be able to even out more or less. You shouldn’t always be selling one thing since its most profitable for example. There’s just different levels of investment in $$ and time required.
So a quick lesson on potato harvesting.
I cleared that field of every single potato plant, and yet the contract wouldn’t pass 97% complete. So I went back and looked again. There were some rows in the field with a tiny short stubble showing, as though the foliage was cut away, but still this stubble remained.
Running the harvester over the stubble, sure enough, brought up potatoes. They were still under the ground. Somehow that harvester missed, succeeded in taking the foliage away, but left the potatoes behind, hence the stubble.
Contract completed. We gained a profit on the excess harvest of $741.
That was a huge time sink though. Not sure I’d do that again without the dedicated machine
IIRC completing the potato harvest on that field (1.33 ha) took about 1.5 hours of real time play.
yoooo who left the tractor with the bredal down at the lime fill station??
Twas I. Reality called, and I was whisked away to another dimension.
Just prior, @saghen dropped in, but there were intermittent phone calls and I couldn’t to Discord.
But some fun later!
So… @Rhinosaurus Possible version of actual results:
On my single player save to practice, I got to this point through many reloads of my save, and retrying. Make sure you can restore/reload if you get a bad object placement.
Basic method:
Start with the horse pen. Lower it one or two ticks down (until the loading area markers disappear). Lowering it all the way will actually put it in a crater. Then, use the landscaping “smooth” tool (middle click) to even out the rough edges. The smoothing tool isn’t very expensive, but the others can be (up to $1k per click!).
Just note our budget before landscaping. If you spend too much, simply adjust the balance. IMO this isn’t very much cheating, since the object placement and landscaping can be really, really unpredictable.
Now. Must… go to… bed…
This game is worse than civilization for the “just one more turn” factor. holy smokes.
Thanks for the research, will be testing that in a bit.
Make a single player career save. Choose the middle option (gives like $1.5 million). Buy lot 17 and immediately save. Then practice placing the large horse pen. Don’t save each time. Just reload, and you get a fresh shot at placing again. After some experience, you get a feel for how the objects might place. ![]()
One feature I wish this game had, was an option to confirm/cancel all object placements when exiting the building menu. At least that way, if it looks like a weird placement… just don’t confirm it.
