Having trouble finding a decent plow mod. There’s some nice looking ones with ridiculously low prices. May grab one and edit the price up appropriately.
So I was checking… Do we need to actually plow, or use a cultivator? We don’t have a stand-alone cultivator.
Last night, that’s what I was trying to test in field 20. I had left the leased cultivator mid-field, where it was turning under the stubble from the previous crop. The planter then worked over that, no problem (unless there was some problems I didn’t realize).
The cultivator was a good bit faster than the plow, so if such would work (at least for some crops), would save some time.
I know you mentioned that certain crops require plowing. When I have a few minutes later, I’m going to do some searches on this.
Root crops require plowing. I thought I read somewhere that sunflower required plowing first time but after that cultivating is fine.
Is plowing required or is harrowing good enough?
Ok, so some reading and more importantly, actually testing this equipment.
My recommendation would be the Agrisem Combi-plow Platinum. It offers a number of advantages for our current needs:
- It’s a sub-soiler. This means that it counts a full plowing, and cultivating.
- 8m working width… wider than our big 6m plow, yet SMALLER than our big plow.
- Much smaller than our current big plow, and vastly easier to turn.
- Low price, just $49k. We could probably sell our big plow to offset much of this cost.
The only difference I can find between the plows and sub-soiler… Is that a sub-soiler can’t create fields. But we’re covered there, since we’ve got the little plow for this rare task (and it’s vastly easier to handle).
The one point about the Agrisem Combi-plow Platinum is that it’s rated for like 420hp. However, in my testing, I pulled it with a 300hp tractor, at 11-12kmh… which is also FASTER than our large plow (at 8 to 9kmh).
Ideally I want this: Download the John Deere 2623 5 Section Disk (Plow) FS19 Mods
But we don’t have a tractor to pull it yet.
I saw the combiplows you mentioned, but I feel like the price to performance ratio is off. Makes me feel like I’m cheating.
For a straight cultivator/harrow there’s this if we need a mod: FS19 Mods John Deere 2623 30FT Disc Harrow Yesmods
I haven’t checked in game yet for those.
edit: there’s a 12m disc harrow we can pull in the regular in-game equipment. I still think we need a better actual plow, but finding one is proving difficult.
The new cultivator looks awesome. Can’t wait to get that in use.
I did a final contract before sign-off, during which 20 and 11 ticked to harvest. I should be on for some play around 10pm eastern.
Did some play stuffs on Greenwich Valley map. Lovely visuals, but I recommend trying in single player, buy a field, and equipment, do some farming.
A common theme (here simply trying to leave the main equipment dealer main gate):
Wheres the trailer with the header loaded on it for transport?
Try Gamsberg yet? More legit for our purposes
To be fair he has a point. You aren’t supposed to be driving the streets like that
Yes, a map like that will mean traveling with a bit more restraint!
Also… Place Anywhere is beyond all awesomeness in the universe. Look at my fantastical, lighted, fully pull through shed with integrated service, fuel, and pressure washers!
Fuel tank and pressure washers inside/other side?
Looks good
Almost anywhere. Can’t place Pressure Wasters directly inside a support column, but close beside is fine. The service garage in that pic is actually intersecting a support column.
I meant where are they in the pic
Here’s a better shot, 2 pressure washers (left), and the fuel behind the service shed. Pretty close placements.
Have you tested the terrain deformity? Or does this only affect how close they can be put?
Results are mixed. On one hand, it seems happy to place even animal enclosures directly in forests (with all trees and bushes remaining in-place). And I have yet to see the “Terrain Deformation” warning. It will simply build up the terrain like crazy and make it work.
However, if the ground is lowered when placing, sometimes any objects that were ignored are left floating in the sky. I suppose this is not too terrible, as I was able to use the “raise terrain” tool to fix it (partly) even inside a chicken pen!
Trees inside the chicken pen is kind of interesting, visually.
Place Anywhere added to the server. Also extended server run time for another 3 months.
Wow, nice screens. Yes, I was watching that sunrise, too.
So I got called away early, but was thinking…
Saghen mentioned field 21 is nice, and Rhino and I were looking at how the large cow pasture (and it’s support infrastructure) fit on the south end.
We’re in a good financial state right now, maybe going ahead and buying field 21, and putting it’s crop income toward the later cattle goal is worth considering?
