It all started so well and rapidly went downhill…
R1
R2
R3
Pretty close…I estimated the winner would be -16…
Fun to watch some highlights from Rory’s 4th round today:
That really shows how well they modeled the official courses in 2K23… I recognise just about all of those bunkers
I notice the Tour is off to TPC Scottsdale next. Are we doing the same?
I’ll set it up…!
I’ll admit, I nearly threw it away at the end. Had a -3 lead over you with 2 holes to go and the pressure began to mount. Of course I knew it was all in my head. Always self induced. Managed to filter out the noise and keep it at -3.
Seems we lost a few folks recently. Where did everyone go?
I just played the first round and TPC Scottsdale is a great course. The back nine was especially good to me
I could have, and should have played better than I did because of missing at least 4 easy (i.e. by inches) Birdie putts.
I clicked ‘Advance’ before I could get a screenshot, but at 4 under I am not too upset and reckon that 8 or 9 under is easily achievable for this round.
Round One - 74
Round Two - 62
Everything that went wrong in the first round…went right in the second. Well…except for the double bogey on the 18th…
All of that said. I hate that golf course. Everything about it. The glass convex greens. The layout. Everything. Hate. It. I feel like renting a crop duster and spraying the whole thing with RoundUP.
Two under for the Tourney, but…
Round 2. AKA: How to squander a lead.
I don’t know how you did it Chris? For me, that pin placement = bend over Harry.
I don’t either. After the first round I was so disgusted I was like…I’m just gonna tear this band-aid off quick and get this tournament over…so went right into the second round. Probably me giving up and being just like “F-it” made my swing smoother for the second round. Less over-think. If only I had played that way in the first round…because @Chaz about to slide in and put up two great rounds…
How about suggesting a course for the next tournament @Harry_Bumcrack? - I’ll put it on the calendar…
I started the second round 5 shots ahead of you, Chris. After 5 holes it was still a healthy gap, but I could see the charge. Slip up on the 6th and 7th and you were level and the charge showed no pace of slowing… Just wow.
In the end I only just managed to hold on and tie with Harry.
Great round and great fun!
I can’t see a way to pull my card back up for the second round. I think it was a flurry of birdies capped off with a double-bogey on 18 or something…
I’m hoping to hit the links later today/tonight.
Here’s a little motivation video from TPC Scottsdale, when Tiger was up and coming causing the golf world to go crazy.
I sort of suggested Scottsdale and was about to suggest we follow the (real) Tour again, but they are off to Torrey Pines (South) next & we have already played there, for my worst result so far. So that is a double nope!
I dunno, maybe a random pick of one of the official courses that we haven’t played yet?
Sorry for the lack of participation of as late. Work has me playing in the brief bit when I get home and before I go to bed. Rather than a nice relaxing activity it was a rush to get a round in before I needed to crash, kinda the opposite of why I play video games. I am hoping things will settle down at work some after this month and I can get back to having some time.
My driving game was way off. It all went horribly wrong in R1 Hole 12 with a triple bogey water shot. Confidence never quite recovered. I did manage an eagle and a couple birdies late in R2 to move into second place (barring no further player entries). but yeah
R1: +1
R2: -4
@BeachAV8R you killed it in Round 2 for sure. -9 nice!
How about a round at Powys, Wales by ArchitexMaze. It’s a stunning course supposedly in my county, though I’m not sure where/what course it’s based on. It feels Welsh with the weather.
All back to mine for a beer after.
