Time for another Fly-In and I feel like having the wind in my hair and oil in my face, so that means Rise of Flight.

Just like all Mudspike Fly-In events, participation is free and open to all levels of skill, experience, and confidence.

To join the fun, you will need a FREE copy of Rise of Flight. Slots will be available for just about every aircraft at some point during the weekend. Have a specific plane you’d like to fly? Mention it here and we’ll do our best to have in the rotation. Paid-for DLC like the Channel Map is not necessary to join up, but we can make it available if the interest is there.

Voice comms are strongly recommended, although not technically required. Log in to the Mudspike Teamspeak 3 server to join in the fun. We may even try our new Discord service out, although it’s also not required.

As always, no sign-ups, no assessment tests, no fees, no required modules, no required modifications. Just join up and enjoy! Tithing is optional and much appreciated. Diamond-studded swimming pools don’t grow on trees, you know.

On January 21st and 22nd, dial into our Teamspeak 3 server, log in to a Mudspike Rise of Flight World Fly-In server, and say hello! You can log into our Teamspeak to get the password info for the Mudspike RoF Server, graciously hosted by our own @Tankerwade.

I for one will be wanting to fly bombers, the Handley Page or the Gotha, and could use at least one gunner.

I’ll be dropping bombs as well so should be plenty of gunner seats available. I can’t fighter pilot in either of 777’s games :stuck_out_tongue:

Unfortunately, not all of the default MP missions have slots for these guys, so we’ll have to either be sure to select missions that have at least one of these aircraft, or get someone smart on the RoF Mission Editor to help us out.

those three planes are all awesome though, so don’t feel like you’re gimped flying them. The nieuports are some of my favourite planes.

I had to put my hardcore flight/combat simming on the backburner a loooong time ago due to time constraints but this looks like a nice “avionics lite” (and free?) event! :slight_smile:

I just downloaded RoF and got my TrackIR5/X55 going with it. The three free planes look nice enough but what are the “MUST HAVE” deadliest planes in terms of dogfighting? Anyone? … Anyone? … Maps? … Anyone? :slight_smile:

I’ve got Channel Battles, furious wings and ultimately the best fighter dlc.

Must haves? Not sure. Gives me a decent amount of planes though.

You can certainly google this topic, I know for a fact there’s several results out there giving opinions on what is worth your while. (e.g. Trup's DLC buying guide :: Rise of Flight United General Discussions) though that’s more of a guide to what’s required for what, and what dlc includes what you would need.

Honestly, I’m best in any Albatross variant, or the SPADs. But that’s because I’ve flown lots and lots of hours in both those planes, and after lots and lots of missing what i thought i was aiming at, started getting slightly mediocre at aiming.

The weather in Tucson is supposed to be awful this weekend – cloudy, rainy, and getting down to 40 degrees! – so it’s a perfect time to sit in front of my computer!
