That’s a pretty cool idea.
am I right that we’re starting in about 5 minutes?
Yes, that’s how I understood too.
That’s correct
There’s already a bunch of us waiting in TS3 - no sign of the Colt flight yet!
I need a few more mins. I saw noone on the TS widget here on the forums.
That thing is not exactly reliable.
At my son’s hockey game at the moment, but this looks epic and…
It caches for too long, so the info can be up to about 20 minutes old unless you F5/Hard Refresh on the browser in that page. It’s not good. Great turn out so far though:
SOOOOO, How did it go?
In Madrid at the moment, sorry i could not join.
The fun factor was great! everyone tried their best. Everyone tried to stick to plan and stay with their flight. BLind called the mission a moderate succes with unacceptable losses.
Man I wish I coulda participated. Damn reserve weekend. Guess someone’s gota look after the counties commissaries on the weekends
I’ll go ahead and say what we all were thinking:
@near_blind, you are one sadistic mission builder. Great fun though!
There was nothing in the briefing about enemy ships along the coast!
It was a fun mission get together – Springfield F-15C flight had a good start and kept together well right up until … Thank you, klarsnow for keeping us on track.
Labels were Off, F5 Nearest Plane was On, I like both of these. F10 View was Fog Of War, while F10 View All would be OK with me.
F-15Cs on approach –
Passing over a Tornado SEAD flight –
There were no ships in the mission funnily enough. There were however a number of threats along the coast as to disincentivize flying in there.
I enjoyed the mission a little, but this is mostly due to me never really flying CAP and certainly not in a F-15C, so I was mostly fumbling about figuring out how the plane works. Atleast I shot down a enemy tanker!
What does the ‘U’ represent on the F-15C’s RWR? I thought it was for a gunboat.
Unknown radar. It means it’s not in the database.
IRL, that would be the F-15 RWR’s database.
In DCS it usually means that it’s a relatively new third party plane, for which there’s no RWR symbol yet.
MiG-21 used to be ‘U’, not sure if it still is, could also be Mirage 2000 now
I just looked back and I’ve got a question. I saw the SEAD flight had an 800L tank on the inboard station, then two Kh-25 ARM’s on the next two stations and lastly an R-73 for self defense with an ECM jammer. My question would if there was a restricted loadout rule or something? The Kh-58 is much more powerful, has way more range than the ‘Kegler’ but can only be carried on the inboard stations. A possible loadout could have been 'Kh-58 inboard. Then a Kh-25, then the 800L fuel tank ( wich can be placed on stations 3 and 9 as well as inboard) and lastly the R-73 and ECM pods for self defense.
I’m not trying to be critical of the design of the mission but it seems harsh to pit the SEAD flight against the Kub, the Buk and the S-300 while denying them acces to their most powerful anti-radiation weapon.
